A couple of days ago I was handed a project that was supposed to be ready in the beginning of the month. Not much time available for last couple of days as I've been pushing long days and will continue to do so thru the weekend. I'm afraid this not gonna be my best month. Too often need to rely on cheap shot that can be taken quickly. I'll keep on shooting something everyday and hope I can step up in my performance in latter part of the month.

Fullframe camera is for whom?

To give one answer to the question in title; K1 is perfect for those who like to shoot a lot with vintage lenses. So far every lens I have tested has been better in native format. But I upgraded from K5, so difference shouldn't be as huge when compared to KP.

I choose one frame which best represent light conditions and edit that in PP. Then simply copy that edit to all other shots needed for stitch or focus stack. It's a matter of seconds no matter how many shots I have to stitch.

Does K-1 in crop mode match K5?

I uprgraded from K5 to K1ii. To me the only disadvantage has been shutter shock. 1/250 is good, but if my desired combination goes below that I'm forced to do compromises. Lower IQ, smaller aperture, higher ISO or using live view with electronic shutter. On tripod live view is easy solution and no problem, but hand held I would like to use OVF. This bothers me so much that when Pentax release FF body with shutter shock solved I will upgrade :)

I haven't used crop mode. I had only two apsc lenses. One is on sale and other I stuck on K5 in case my family needs a camera. For me there's no going back. I like how much better my lenses are in their native format. But since OP has a lot of apsc lenses and plans to shoot a lot in crop mode anyway, I would consider if KP would be a better choice after all.

I second the motion.

I have M50f1.4/1.7/2/4. I've shot my month with them with APSC body and based on it I will let 1.4 and 2 go after I've shot an other month in FF with them. On condition that I get most of my 90 and 30 back from them. With these prices there really isn't any point to dump them at discount.

So my answer to your question is that I would keep M50/1.7.

I strongly believe in making one's own decicions in matters of taste and boldly standing agains common opinion. Majority is usually too mainstream to understand true greatness.

In this case doesn't necessery apply as we are all Pentaxians and therefore not part of the majority

I'm done with May single in challenge with M*300. Time for the wrap up. It was a fun.

Still in love with what K1ii does to the wide open performance. When I shot M*300 with APSC I tried to avoid wide open due to decrease in sharpness. This month it was hard to move away from wide open due to quality in bokeh I gained. On FF the wide open sharpness is good enough. It's good to be on format these lenses were designed for. This is the first star lens from Pentax and it has quality in its rendering to be worth it.

4m MFD was a challenge during the month. With FF it was a bigger problem than with APSC. Even with 2" extension I only got around 2m and didn't really get into macro zone. Normally this isn't a problem, as you would only use this lens when shooting further away, but in the SIC it limits versatility a lot and makes indoor work very difficult. Other big problem during the month was shutter shock which was quite obvious with this lens. Live view and electronic shutter was easy solution on tripod, but it limits OVF use a little and takes away advantage from improved SR. There was purple and green fringnig especially wide open as can be expected from such a long lens. Defring on Capture 1 didn't clean it all and on some shots I reduced saturation from purple color locally to get rid of PF.

Outside SIC I mainly use this lens for action and continue to do so. IQ is good enough and CIF makes shooting easy enough. The other uses are when you want the soft bokeh background or if you want brenizer kind of rendering. Not the easiest lens to use, but still the star in M series.

I'm going into June SIC with M50/4 macro. After last month I want the ability to get close when I want :)

I'm done with May. It was a fun run. I shot and delivered every day in time. Some cheap shots during the month as normal. You just can't spend time and effort for shooting every day.

Brilliant idea! I need to start thinking how to attach the tripod head to handle bar. There must be usable clamp in bike accessories that can be modified for the use.

That's also what I ment. Of course assuming good light so AF regognation works well. Also the fact that, if I don't notice something, doesn't necessary mean that it doesn't excist.

Some thoughts as just found this thread.

Tripod, base ISO and f8 unless you have a reason to do something different. I always use IR remote with 3s delay to make sure there are no vibrations. If you don't have IR remote, you can find them for few dollars from ebay. Due to shutter shock on K1ii I've started to use electronic shutter when I have camera on tripod.

Shoot RAW and learn PP. It's the digital way. You can do a lot to make the most out of the light. Stitching and stacking also open a lot of new possibilities. Good software is worth the money.

CPL and ND filters are all and what you need in digital age as both provide something that is hard to emulate in PP.

Aim for quolity, not quantity. Shoot as much as you like. Just don't spend PP time on mediacore frames. Concentrate on good ones. Even one good shot a day is plenty. Personally I delete everything I don't develope into jpg.

No problem. Often my comments are just a note to let the sender know I've taken time to look at their work with some thought, so lot times don't even expect reply, as personally I prefer a reply only when I have also something else to say than simple thenk you.

I haven't noticed any slow down with my M's with K30, K5 or K1, if there is enough light for fast AF lock.

I'm in. Probably M50/4 as I want to get close for a chance. Only problem is that I'll have 2 fifties in a row, as M50/1.7 is booked for the July, but I think I'll survive.
