K20D-W Update help.

Most likely it uses a non-standard version of the firmware. The only way to tell would be to backup the on-board firmware and do a binary comparison vs the standard firmware of the same version number.

From the above link to SanDisk's website:

Which would seem to imply that there are hardware/firmware differences between the standard K20D and the "W" version.

The Vivitar 2 Macro Teleconverter (7 elements, mult-coated) is rather popular and can be found with "A" contacts. Versions can be found under several brand names however it is unclear which are relabels and who the original manufacturers were.

It would appear that Ricoh at least in the US and a few other countries is willing to cover this repair outside of warranty. Therefore you have nothing to lose by contacting Ricoh first and seeing what they have to say. Even if the repair fails again after two or so years you would still have gotten that much time of use.

According to this calculator a +2 diopter should give you close to 1 magnification.

The only time this is an issue is after a major update such as the Anniversary, November or Creator's Edition updates.

If you are running Home edition vs one of the Professional versions may make a difference on how updates are handled.

The Ricoh list of authorized dealers is out of date. They list a store in the Los Angeles area that's been out of business for a year or two.

How are you transferring your images now? Do you import them through the OS (Windows10) or your photo editing program from the USB cable? When you connect the cable the card(s) on the K-1 should show up as removable drives. Just open the drives up in the OS explorer and drag and drop the movie files to your computer.

The (") is also the symbol from mathematics/geometry/trigonometry/angular measurement for seconds, most commonly used for global map coordinates.

Angle Measurement: Degrees, Minutes, Seconds | Zona Land Education

QuoteQuote:

There are symbols that are used when stating angles using degrees, minutes, and seconds. Those symbols are show below:

Symbol for degree:

Symbol for minute: '

Symbol for second: "

So, the angle of 40 degrees, 20 minutes, 50 seconds is usually written this way:
notation for 40, 20', 50"

As noted before using center-weighted metering will give you closer results to what you want as cameras from the Spotmatic era did not use matrix metering. The differences in dynamic range between film and digital may also be a factor in the results you are getting.

What size documents are you going to be photographing? Framing may be an issue because of the crop sensor. Macro tubes limit your magnification and framing choices. I would certainly bring all the lenses and tubes. Gives you more options.

No surprise. 5-10 years ago probably 95% were shot with Point-and-shoot. 20 years ago P&S film cameras including Polaroids and disposables. 30 years ago Kodak Instamatic Disc, 110 and 35mm P&S. Now they can share their pictures and videos on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat that can be ignored instead of boring their friends and family with slide shows.

A RAM drive will be an SSD for IO speed any day of the week. Since SSDs have limited write cycles you should use them mainly for static files. Put your temp directories, PS scratch drives, pagefile and any other transient files on the RAM drive. The more RAM you have the smaller the pagefile needs to be. If you clear your browser cache when you close your browser put the cache on the RAM drive too.

If you have 192 GB of RAM you're probably not going to 50-60 GB for a RAM drive unless you are running a bunch of Virtual Machines simultaneously.

Reverse image search software for HDD search

Easy-Peasy

Place the image you want to search for in a separate folder/drive (reference). This should not be a subfolder of the files you are searching against (target).

e.g.:
Reference folder - Create a folder c:\reference. Copy the low res image there.

Start Similar image.
Click the radio button for Reference/Target search
In the "Folders to Process" pane right click and Add or click the folder+ button. Add the reference folder. Right click on the folder and pick "Toggle Reference". Add the target folder.

Execute the search by click on the Magnifying Glass button. The default threshold of 35 should be fine or setting to a larger number to "loosen" up the search. If you get too many hits and want to re-run the search with a smaller threshold uncheck the "Use Not-A-Match Database" in the Cache tab.

I think it doubtful that degaussing the horseshoe part will be effective. Others that have tried filing the plunger have said that the part doesn't seem to magnetized as metal/iron filings are not attracted to the part.
