Sorry, I'm self-isolating and after my first week I am already bored, otherwise I probably would not have responded. However, despite this being a photography forum, responding gives me something to do, so here goes ...

First, methinks you are a wee bit confused if you are suggesting that Windoze gave us DOS. I'm a decrepit old git and despite my failing memory, I definitely remember using DOS when Bill Gates was still dreaming about Windows (I say dreaming but the reality of the early versions was more of a nightmare). I would also suggest that green phosphorous displays predate Windows, certainly that is what I had on the Apple II that I used around 1980/81. Mind you, I'll definitely agree about BSOD - an absolute pain in the derrière. As for viruses, they do exist on Apple but obviously the bad guys concentrated on the far more popular (in terms on users) OS.

And I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Apple did not give us mice and colour screens, they simply "borrowed" these innovations from the Xerox Alto. Remember me saying I was old? Well, I actually saw an Apple Lisa in use. Ask any user of the early models about the non-reliability of the floppy disk drives.

Personally, I regret that CPM didn't became the de facto OS. Far better than DOS.

Huge apologies for going off on a tangent! I'm still trying to get to grips with moving from Windows 7 to Linux. I really, really miss Lightroom so find myself booting up Windows just to use tat (with its brilliant 2 monitor support. ENOUGH BLOODY COMPUTER TALK!!!
