The "gentle" rendering of the DA 20-40 is what really singles it out for me.

What's the big deal about "Weather Resistance"?

I've been an outdoors photographer for many decades.

Up until a year ago, I never had a weather resistant camera body or lens.

While I've never been one to shoot during a downpour, I none-the-less have not been shy about shooting in mist, light rain, and snow.

I never have put any type of protection over my cameras, yet in all of my years of outdoor shooting, I've never had any problems with water getting into my cameras or lens. Certainly have never
had any damage to my camera equipment due to inclimate weather.

While I now have WR Pentax gear, it's not a feature that's a big deal to me.

Might someone else who also shoots extensively in the out-of-doors enlighten me as to what's the big deal about weather resistant lenses and cameras?

I finally broke and bought a DA 21 last summer (I already had an M 20, an FA 20-35, and a DA 16-85). Didn't absolutely need it, but it quickly became my favorite lens. As much as I like the DA 15, I don't really see the world at 15mm, and I would be hard pressed to spend a whole day shooting only at 15mm (or only at 28mm or 35mm or any other focal length). But I have no problem shooting all day at 21mm --- and that's what I've frequently done since getting the DA 21.

I love my DA21. The angle of view is very intuitive. It's tiny, fast enough, close focussing, sharp, flare resistant, and it makes lovely starbursts.

What do I use it for?

Environmental portraits of surly daughters :)

Even selfies ;)

It goes OK on the Q as well
