If you had to pick one B&W film to shoot for a while (bulk loading) what would it be?

I agree. Having processed my own film for over 50 years, Iíve never found a reason to try such things a stand development, as I always get the results I want from the mfgrs film / developer recommendations. I have used different developers for some film types, or to get more film speed, but Iíve stayed away from fads.

I also like to keep the film wet time short - I guess a carryover from time doing reportage work where minutes mattered. But it gives me good results.

Hi Dlh
Marketing and sheep mentality seem to be the norm now.
Even on this very forum a new camera comes out and the same day threads start up complaining it doesn't have this or that and why wasn't it out earlier and whens the next one coming out.......jeesh
I'm 3 generations behind but it still takes pictures....I'm the stumbling block not the camera

Some PanF+ in the fog on my GX617 pano camera. I placed one of the tombstones at Zone I and that pushed the highlights up to their limit.

I've gotta wonder why you want to test them. Just enjoy using them! Most lenses are better than most photographers. 😀

That is an interesting statement and one that I won't argue over except to point out that not all negative scanners are created equal and that for both approaches, technique for capture and quality of the optical path for copy/scan are critical.

I find the idea that consumer goods can be "prestigious" immensely annoying. There is nothing prestigious in being expensive. Winning the Nobel Prize is prestigious, waving a Leica about or driving a Range Rover is nothing more than being a victim of advertising.

First film in over a decade

If you insist on harsh objective criticism, you might want to try criticizing the work for what it is, a set of quick test shots to see if a camera was working properly or not, developed by someone who has never done it before, cross processed just to see how they would turn out. Your criticism might be better received if you keep it relevant to the work that was done. Otherwise, it's just misguided and unhelpful at best, rude and uncalled for at worst.

You are entitled to your opinion, but trolling someone's technique exploration is low...very, very low.

understanding the 1.5 crop factor

Now that you have an understanding of it, do yourself a favor. - Forget you ever heard of "crop factor".
Once you do you'll find life much simpler, and photography more enjoyable as you concentrate on learning how your lenses work on your camera(s) instead of trying to figure out how they might work on someone else's.
Unless you are actually using the same lenses on two different formats the concept is useless.
