Im jealous. A local Frame store is going out of business, and their frames are up to 60-70% off. With that deal I cant help but snag a couple.

Idk it seams where im from there is a wide selection of various sizes including the matts that go along with the different size frames. If there was one frame thats a little more difficult to get a hold of, that would be the 4:3 size frame.

One more thing to add, id look at how you used the 10-20 lens saying its the apsc equivelant to the full frame 15-30 mm focal length. With that lens what was the general focal length you shot at?

On that 10-20 mm lens if the mass majority of shots were between 10-15 id recommend the 15-30 lens, if the majority was shot between 16-20 then the 24-70 lens will work nicely.

I think it is subjective. I own both the fuji and pentax and think the both feel great to me, except for the strap connectors which is horrible on the fuji. The other part that is horrible with the fuji is the evf lag/freeze when panning, it makes makes me sick. With that being said image quality is the similar to where i dont have to color correct the fuji but do have to remove a magenta cast on the pentax model. There are work arounds for not using as much battery on the fuji such as turn off everything except for the evf, etc...

I agree, its the reason i got rid of my kmount gear and am only shooting with my phone, m43, and medium format. Those three compliment each other really well, and dont require cropping to 4:3 format. phone for convenience, m43 for speed and video(great for medium/large printers), and MF for image quality(large detailed prints).

I completely understand where you are coming from in that aspect. It can be difficult to think about the final outcome of the shot by stitching. Id still recommend the 24-70 and maybe looking at a prime for the wide shots such as the irix 15mm, for those times that a wider alternative is needed. Just trying to help you from buying the 15-30, although that lens is great. Most of the time I found myself between the focal lengths of 24-30 end of the scale

there were a few times though that I would be anywhere between 15-17, but nothing really between 17-24.

and another with the 15-30

The 15-30 is an amazing lens, and its hard to not say go for it. With that being said though, the 24-70 is a much more useful lens. Would there be an issue of stitching to get the wider angle? If stitching is not a problem, go with the 24-70.

I think its not necessarily which lenses we need, but more of a refresh of whats available. If i had to give an answer id say something in the 20-25mm focal length. Then a refresh allowing for silent autofocas and weather resistance across the line especially in the normal to long zoom range much like what the 28-45mm is. Also if there was an addition of some more ois lenses unless they did something with the next Iteration of the MF body which besides ibis, would add slight size reduction along with maybe gps and wifi.

Isnt that what most brand fanatics do though? Make it seem like their brand of camera is the best in the world? You hear that from all brands, but what it comes down to is all subjective opinion. It goes the same for sensor size as well, but what makes full frame the holy grail of all options? Apsc is closing the gap to where its very difficult to tell the difference between that and full frame. Even to the point of surpassing it in parts. Full frame will never be quite the same as medium format no matter how people like to beat on their drums. I agree with a lot of what you say though, except for the expensive dead end. In really we can equate that to all modern ilc cameras when phones are just about good enough.

Even without the crop mode, although slight vignetting, the image quality is fantastic with those lenses. The sluggishness of the af though will be the hard part for those people to make the transition. Thats where fuji can reel in the market, if they can fix that nuance with medium format and slow autofocus. With the next couple of versions though they should have that fixed, and with the next sensor they should have the slow readout issue with the lag fixed.

Idk this seems like a little bit of a stretch to call them the darkhorse. I will say it will be interesting to see what happens when they release their newer medium format camera though. I wonder if they will be the ones that will change the way everyone will see medium format in the way of camera speed/pace of shooting.

Sorry, had to ask... in all serious though this is an interesting find, thankyou for letting us know the amounts radiating from the lenses. It will definitely change my thoughts on looking at these types of glass.

Well for the update they are releasing, its suppose to help with much of the speed issues and a good number of bugs, along with adding some extra features that should be welcoming. Hopefully it will fix much of the issues that it appears everyone is having.

K-1 stabilization vs Olympus e-m1 mark 1 stabilization: is Oly really that good?

We are not talking about exposure, noise, light admittance, depth of field, etc. its about keeping a sensor in a given spot accounting for momentary movements in all axis. The accounting of movement to have a clear, crisp, sharp images. So the notion of 6x, 8x, etc is meaningless. Yes physics does have a hold here. It appears that Pentax has had a massive amount of improvement with their algorythms and shake reduction technology with the release of the new full frame model. Yes the m43 has a little bit of wiggle room do to not having as big of a sensor, thus shaving a little bit of weight off the sensor, but it is just a crop of a larger sensor. Unless someone knows exactly what the weight difference is, or the compensation rates, etc. of the mechanisms/ sensor, the difference between the two are meaningless. What matters is if the photographer is happy with his camera, along with getting the results they desire with said tool.

Would it though? I mean there is much more involved then crop factor. Just because there is a crop factor of two, doesnt make there be a crop factor everywhere else. The weight of a m43 is not half as heavy, the mechanism is not half the size, and it wouldnt mean that to get the same movement in the location you need to have double the shutter speed or half the shutterspeed. So to say 16 seconds and 17mm well its not realistic....

But in general, i think we can say if the camera can stabilize for the same amount of time with its shutterspeed, with the same person, with each camera having the same field of view only, then id say its on par with each other.

I did some more testing outside this time, and I tend to agree with your statement on not sure on what it would be useful for. conditions were not the best super sunny and really windy, but I got some shots off. on average though between the wide end and the long end Id say it was about 30%-40%. and that was using the image I posted before as what acceptable for this test would be. In reality though I wouldn't claim any of them would be great outside of just posting on facebook. Long Exposures belong on a tripod.

Ill stand by my original unbiased comment that the Olympus has a great stabilization system, but I would say the one for Pentax is a tad better.

Oh and one last comment on the long exposures, outside of doing these tests. Either with the Pentax or Olympus, Not sure why anyone would want to look at a blank view finder for 2 seconds anyway. Just a thought

Something came up today to where I wasn't able to do the full test, I did manage to get some time to snap 8 images to at least show something for today. It was nothing special with the Olympus at 25mm (35mm equivalent being at 50mm). With only capturing 8, Id say 3 are very useable, 2 are passable, and 3 well I label them as my head still hurts from last night and my vision is still spinning.

I still have to figure out how I will post them, or at least make a contact sheet to show the images at once and upload that, but here is one of the acceptable ones

shutter priority, 2 seconds, camera picked the remaining settings, soooc JPG with no processing.

One more thing, I did not use a tripod, or prop myself up against anything. Also I would not normally have a shutter speed this long with out a tripod.

Ok. Weather today looks like it will be good, hopefully it wont be windy. To make the tests even. Ill take 10 shots across each the focal lengths( lets say 24, 50, 100, 150, 200 35mm equivelant) have the camera on shutter speed priority at 2 seconds, there will be no tripod or anything to brace myself on.

Its hard to believe, but yes id say consistently. I agree that the human body is not that stable, so it goes to show how good the stabilization system is [emoji6]

There is also other factors that come into play and technique and breathing are important
