PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Tamron 28-75 F2.8

Asking Price
150

Item Location
Macon, Georgia

Item Description
Tamron 28-75 F2.8

The aperture blades on this lens are sticking a bit. It doesn't do it all the time, and the blades can be released by moving the lever on the back. I've gotten two estimates to have the lens fixed. One was for $140 (Tamron USA) and the other was for $110 (KEH.com). Both of these estimates were over the phone, so i guess there's a possibility that the repair could cost a little more.

Besides this problem, the lens is in absolutely pristine shape! Very well taken care of.

Includes:
Original Box
Original manual
Original lens hood
Original front and rear lens cap

I'm switching brands and really don't want to take the time to send this lens off. My impatience is your gain.

I'm looking to get $150 for it, which would be a great deal if you have the time to send it off and have it fixed.

Because of the nature of this sale, all sales are final.

$150

Great, thanks guys! Yes, they are .jpgs on the cd. I just didn't know if it was normal to tweak the images, or if i should go the "purist" route and leave them untouched. I will definitely, at the least, desaturate them.

Ah, just thought of another question. Is there a way to specify the "size" of the scans? Mine came back at only about 2mb/image.

Any other suggestions/tips for a better workflow?

One thing that i'm finding hard is that there is no EXIF data to look back at...which is needed even more for the SV since it's very much manual! ;)

Here's a photo of the SV that i picked up. Not bad for $45, which included a Ricoh 50mm F2:

Ok, I'm not new to photography, but I AM very new to using film. I just bought an old Pentax SV in good shape to basically play with.

I have some questions about my workflow, however and if i'm doing anything "wrong".

Here's an example of my workflow for my first time out with it:
1. Bought 400 speed B&W film (Kodak, i think)
2. Took photos
3. When finished, took roll of film to Walgreens and asked for only a CD of photos.
4. Received CD and negatives of film
5. Transferred images from CD to computer and imported into Apple Aperture

Here's where my questions come in:

1. When i import them into Aperture, the software treats it like a color image and they even take on a hue of blue/green/tan at times. Do I need to "convert" it to B&W?

2. Should I even be doing post-processing work in the first place? I kind of like the idea of leaving them "raw" and as they were taken from the camera. What's the general consensus on post-process work on film?

I'm by no means doing serious work with this camera. It's merely a toy for me, honestly. I like the idea of it's "raw" and "retro" feel, and really like how my first set of photos came out. Any suggestions/comment/etc. are extremely welcome!

Thanks!
Matt

Thanks guys! I'll take some time and digest the explanations, but i think you've hit on exactly what I was confused about.

Another question: Where does the "Flash On" in-camera mode fall into in the above chart?

Thanks!

I think I understand the basics of flash exposure vs. ambient exposure.

I guess my real question is more about the possible conflict of settings between the external flash and the camera:

Since the AF-360 already has settings for "Leading Curtain", "Trailing Curtain", "Contrast Control" and "High-Speed" sync modes on it's body, do i ever need to adjust the K10d's sync mode in-camera?

What happens if i have conflicting sync modes on the flash's body and in-camera?

Thanks again!
Matt

This is the exact thing i'm trying to wrap my brain around.

If you have conflicting settings between the external flash and the in-camera settings, which one "wins"?

I generally just leave the in-camera settings on the flash icon and control everything from the external flash. Is this acceptable?

Ok,

So i realize my first post was a bit confusing.

I think i may have figured it out, but i'll re-state it just in case I don't have it completely right.

Basically, when i attached my new AF-360, i wasn't sure what flash settings to use on the camera itself. I realize that i can adjust the sync mode on the Flash itself using the slider.

Am i correct in figuring that it doesn't matter what i set the actual camera's flash settings to, since I'm not actually using the built-in flash on the camera, but the external?

This is probably a super-newb question about my flash, but i'll ask anyway.

When the external flash is attached, i know you can change the different types of output by using the slider.

What i want to know is, what flash setting is the actual camera supposed to use? Does one override the other?

Sorry if this doesn't make sense.
