Mirror Flopping - How Much To Repair

Hello fellow Pentaxians. I need to ask this for those who've experienced the mirror flopping syndrome with their shutter firing w/o actually taking a pic and have sent their cameras in for repair. Mine has been occurring for the past few months and I've been dealing with it since, but now it's become a burden while shooting sessions and I need to straighten it out. My question is how much did you have to fork over to Pentax or Ricoh to have it fixed and how long did it usually take to get your camera back? I'm thinking it might be better to buy another K-5 or even the K-5 II if it'll be more cost-efficient to get a new one.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

D-LI90 Not Holding Charge

Thanks for all your responses, guys. It's been helpful.

No, I keep the battery in the camera since I always carry it with me everywhere I go. And I always take constant care of the camera when it's by my side, like no sudden jolting or dropping.

Thanks for referring that article. Heat is always an issue with me since sometimes the camera's in a hot car and my apartment can get pretty hot. I never considered state of discharge to be an issue but now I know and I thank you for that.

D-LI90 Not Holding Charge

Recently my D-LI90 battery for my K-7 suddenly goes dead, as in loses all its charge after only 1-2 days and I haven't used my camera that much in terms of shooting. The battery is nearing 2 years old when the K-7 came out. Anyone else have this problem with this battery before or is this a tell-tale sign to buy a replacement?

Oh and I ordered a replacement just in case. I got a couple shoots this upcoming weekend.

Can't wait to see the photo comparison and your more detailed review. I was already impressed from the K-5 specs but now hearing all the news from initial testing is getting me excited to try out the K-5.

Looking for Diffuser for Pentax 540

I'd swear that one from your link looks just like a Sto-Fen. Now I've never worked with Sto-fen's but I've heard all they do is drain your flash's batteries and don't truly soften the harsh light like what the Lightsphere does.

I don't know. Looking at it on my flash and comparing it to a snoot or Gary Fong's Origami diffuser, it doesn't look that crazy looking.
Pakuchn, you can see it here.

It might run $40 but the Gary Fong Cloudy Lightsphere has been extremely helpful.

Problem with PocketWizard Plus II & Pentax K-7

I've been having this problem trying to use the PocketWizard Plus II radio trigger with my K-7. On two separate occasions I've tried to use the PW to fire off-camera strobes. All the settings on the PW were sound, they worked when connected to the hotshoes of both Canon & Nikon bodies but trying it with my K-7 I've had no luck.

Is there a setting on the K-7 I'm missing to make the PW operate or is it even a matter of the PW not compatible with the K-7's hotshoe? Or is there the simplest solution of connecting the PW to the K-7 using the PC sync port?

Responses would be greatly appreciated.

I just saw that, why would he diss Pentax? There was a saying that Angie Stone said about haters this morning on the Steve Harvey Morning Show.

It was along the long the lines of I don't care what the haters say about me, you just mentioning me means you DO care. And because you care to mention me, you make me relevant.

It was a small wedding with only about 50 guest who were already married or taken. The bride thought it was pointless to do a garter or bouquet toss.

My first wedding I shot close to 500 pics and decided on RAW for its versatility in post production. I would've shot a lot more but I wasn't allowed to take pics during bride prep or the ceremony and there was no garter or bouquet toss to cover due to audience consideration.

And of those 500, 140 were handed on CD that my client was most impressed about.

I read that article and saw that video from that so called 'photographer' and I was shocked at the sub-standard results. I did my first wedding shoot a month ago and I prepared my guts out both in equipment and in research. The result was a happy father and bride & groom. What that guy did, or didn't do, is just unforgiveable.

Greetings all! I've know about the forums for a while but now I officially registered.

I've been a serious hobbyist for a couple years, got my first DSLR which was a K10D over a year ago and just won myself a K-7 from a Viral Tour stop in Orlando. Hopefully I have the K-7 in my hands next week. I have my first wedding shoot in September and looking forward to that.
