Saying the sensor is bad because its not that great high ISO wise is nuts, the camera has great color and detail, grain on it isnt even that bad, its film like, its nice in some instances.

Pentax K-7 to K-7...is the K-7 shutter blur enough of an issue to warrant it?

Every camera has its problems, I would not worry to much about it honestly. I think this problem was less so on both K20D and K-5 though.

Hmmm even if that 19 stop thing is true, digital is getting there...for sure. Myself I use digital more then film. I hate that train of thought about it not being art if its not on film...seriously it feels like those people are trying to justify themselves to much and most who I hear say things like this are really bad actually so it makes sense.....

I hear you on the exposure thing, maybe I just have a different way of thinking when shooting, guess everyones minds work different, but I still feel like people should learn how to use the camera best and not rely on something just because its doing good enough on its own and the K-5 would help that train of thought if the person thinks that way.

I love the advancements but I feel like its making it to easy in a way...There is a definite reason most beginner classes use Film. I feel you need to learn how to expose right and do everything right without an almost fail proof camera...

But thats a whole different discussion, good luck! :-)

Man I ordered one of these on 24th of last month and it still says processing, I hope its not delayed much longer, I know they had a death though...so its understandable, Just need more patience lol.

About the shimming thing...I was not aware of this and at this price I expect to not have to do work....I would not feel right tampering with it, whats the chances I get a perfect one?

Funny I have a K20D, honestly I can go to 1600 without much noise or detail disappearing. Honestly not sure why everyone thinks the noise is so bad on these, I compared them with D300 and found the noise to be better on the K7 and K20D(A bit better then K7) by a small margin.

I think you are comparing it to much to the K-X(Much newer sensor), I can almost guarantee photos at lower ISO will look better on the K7 though...

When you compare the K7 with what was around at the time its great, Pretty sure you just need to learn the camera batter, try lowering the ISO and take advantage of Image stabilization. Seriously I can go down to 15-20 shutter speed and get clear non blurred photos.

I got a K1000 SE now though, works good. Forgot about this thread, got busy :-/.

Never had a problem with this company, honestly don't know why they have a bad rating there, then again so did Abes of Maine when I ordered from them, now they have a good one. Never had a problem with them also. Honestly I think people expect to much.

Here is the think, I go into menu and set the Multi Exposure to however many frames I want and then when I go out of it the thing resets, I tried hitting the Auto EV adjust also and it still resets it once I leave the menu.

Am I doing something wrong? :hmm:

Why not make a Pentax DSLR in the shape of old Spotmatics and 60s/70s film cameras?

I feel like most of its very unnecessary, do we need all these options? Nahhh.

Least give us the choice of the spotmatic body type DSLR with less options.

Hmm you have a point, I guess I was viewing it in the sense that she has a K-r that is pretty good with low light/ISO.

I would shot for the 18-135 and keep it on the whole time.

Honestly you don't wanna switch lenses during an event, its a pain, yeah it doable but you might miss "That Shot" If you hear me.

I would have said "Its not the camera that makes the photo great, its the photographer" and walked away.

I have gotten better shots with a point in shoot then some people I see carrying around a D700....

Speaking of this, I recently went to a Photoclub which was filled with about 30-40 old men/women and when I told them I was going from my Nikon D40 to a Pentax K-5 they said I was downgrading, now note that I am 22 years old and am not very biased when it comes to brands besides my dislike of most digital canon cameras(Not a fan of the feel of them mostly). They laughed about it and then started to argue about if Nikon or Canon was better. The meeting was a joke, basically it was an hour long power point presentation on how to use your camera right, funny cause half the examples shown were over or underexposed(one had a totally white blown out sky).

I was O_O the whole time, I did not attend the next meeting. It made me said, I was like...these are the people that share my passion? Also at the end of the presentation, they handed out little ribbon awards since they held a photo contest the week beforehand and the leaders of the meeting received most of the awards, it felt like an ego boosting party...Ridiculous.
