The guilty party rises in court and states: Your Honor, I plead guilty. The trial then moves to the mitigation phase. The guilty party states that he did not notice that the thread had been moved there by an (unnamed) Mod. A very civil PM from Clicker advised the guilty party of all the facts. The infraction was reversed and Clicker was told that the infraction had been removed and given to the (unnamed) Mod.

Note for Clicker: Would you please confirm the above. Since I am no longer a Mod I no longer have access to your infraction history.

If funds were no object, Zeiss Planar T* 1,4/50. It comes in both K-mount and M42. I would buy the M42. Of course you can see by my sig. that I have an M42 camera body. But who knows, you might loose your head some day and get one yourself. Stranger things have happened.

I would only trust Eric with my Spotmatic, which I purchased in 1970. He is doing a lens for me right now. Did anyone else in this thread mention Eric Hendrickson?

Perhaps things would have been different at Ohio State the other day if they had had a couple, maybe at Virginia Tech here a while back, oh yeah, there was also Columbine HS. Maybe they are worried about some nut case walking up to the front door with a loaded gun. But I guess you are right, couldn't happen at the Department of Education.

I was just told that when sending camera/lens to Eric Hendrickson, there is customs and or other charges on the return of the item to Canada. Can anyone verify or refute this.

Need help to repair a takumar 85-210mm lens

Eric Hendrickson at Eric can probably fix it. I see you are new here. You probably haven't seen any threads about Eric, but he is considered to be a Pentax repair guru by many here. He did a complete overhaul and repaired the broken light meter on my 38 year old Spotmatic. I just bought a Vivitar 28mm/2.0 M42 from the For Sale forum. That lens has a problem and it is being shipped direct to the Eric Hendrickson Pentax Hospital for CLA and repair. Eric's prices are amazingly inexpensive (cheap).

If you add the price you paid for the lens to Eric's repair price and are satisfied with the total, this is the way to go. The way Eric works is, you mail the lens to him, he checks it and tells you whether it can be repaired or not and the repair price. If you find his repair price too high, you can reject it and he returns the lens to you at his expense. All it cost you is packing and postage to ship it one way. That is a heck of a deal in my opinion.

Super Takumar 50mm f1.4 M42 (good for this price?)

I don't think so. Go over to Ebay and search "Pentax Spotmatic". There are a couple there right now with the Super Tak 50/1.4 lens. They will probably sell for half the price your seller is asking and you will have a camera as well, which you might even like.

RioRico is a highly experienced user. He did not learn the stuff he knows by reading books. Go here and read all this stuff.
When you get through reading, order a GENUINE Mount Adapter K(35m m Screwmount to Bayonet) here. PentaxWebstore - SLR Lenses Get some experience how the correct adapter works, and if you need more that one adapter then start experimenting with the off brand stuff. Just remember, if as and when you ruin a nice camera or lens, some of us are mean enough to say "I told you so."

Right. And when I stop at the bar tonight I'm only going to have 2 and go home.:lol::lol:

Well, they told me that the first half of the first step was the admission of powerlessness. I did that almost 18 years ago and haven't had a drink since then. :)

BTW, you don't happen to have a Super Tak 85/1.9 with original caps and hard case that you'd like to dump for about $25.00 do you?:lol::lol:

My bad! I can only plead old eyes and reading too fast.

In my last post I said "NOTE: This opinion is not for RioRico" My meaning was that the opinion expressed in my post had no application to experienced users, but was meant for folks who had never mounted an M42 lens on a K Mount body.

Good Golly, Miss Molly. Worst case of LBA/CBA I've seen in a while. Last I heard our fearless leader Adam had 16 bodies (mas o menos) and 135 lenses. Kinda thought that was bordering on excessive.:lol::lol: I'm up to 5 bodies and 14 lenses. Just nailed Peter Zack's Vivitar 28mm f2.0 M42 last night, but since I haven't received it yet, it doesn't count. Right? ;)

Bower M42 to PK adapter = not happy

If it works for you, that is great. The way I use M42 lenses is entirely different than the way you do. You may have noticed in my Sig. that I'm the "Proud Owner" of a Spotmatic and that I have several M42 lenses. I use that camera rather regularly and I don't intend to permanently mount an adapter on any of those lenses. I notice that you do NOT mention an M42 body in your gear list.

As for removing the screw and clip, I say horsefeathers. My Pentax adapter has a screw and clip and functions as intended. Therefore I conclude that there should be no reason to remove the screw and clip from the Bower or any other 3rd party adapter. It is a good worker who examines the tool, finds that the tool is poorly designed and/or manufactured (a piece of crap) and then obtains the tool from the proper source like he knew to do in the first place.

Did I remember to mention that you should get a genuine Pentax adapter? NOTE: This opinion is not for RioRico

Listen to Mike. Do what Mike says. The only reason to ignore Mike's advice is that "you don't have enough aggravation in your life". You could have turned a almost mint 50/4 macro into a door stop.

My own story is that when I got my DSLR the Pentax web store was "out of stock" on the Mount Adapter K(35mm Screwmount to Bayonet). Not being of the instant gratification generation, I knew to wait. But did I? NOOOO! Ordered the adapter from B&H, and got a Bower. Piece of crap. Talked to cust. svc. They sent me a second one free. Now I have 2 pieces of crap. Pentax web store got the adapter in stock. Bought one. Now there is a white picket fence around my front yard, the grass is always green, and it never needs mowing.:lol::lol:

Are all Takumar 300mm radioactive?

Here is something I posted a while back. Thought you might like to know.

In addition to the radioactive problem with the various Takumar lenses there is another problem which is even more dangerous.

In another thread a few months back a user related that he was was changing from an M42 mount to a K mount while standing on the platform of a train station. He dropped the mount adapter, it rolled off the platform, and ended up by the tracks. He jumped down retrieved the mount adapter, and returned to the platform.

The conclusion which I have come to is that in addition to having your eyeball shrivel up and fall out along with the potential loss of teeth and hair from radiation exposure, you also have the possibility of getting run over by a train. These lenses are dangerous and should only be used by a professional. Send all your Takumar lenses to Mike Cash. Mike is really "Mr. Takumar" around here and he will know what to do. You can't be too careful.

Google is not my friend. Check their privacy policies. But in this case I was asking Wheatfield for his sources. Not something you happened to google. They may or may not be the same. The El Paso Times is my daily paper, and had they reported this story, I doubt it would have been the same, or perhaps even similar to the story in your links.

FWIW immigrant rights is a HOT BUTTON issue around here.
