I enjoy this photograph, however I wish the water were more in focus. Then at least we could be seeing what the subject of the photograph presumably is looking at.

Thanks for your comment. I am flattered by the comparison to the silent film era as I'm a big fan! Yes, I guess a fill flash might help with this type of subject.

I strode down the steps of my apartment, and removed my shoes as I am wont to do; and I looked around for possible photographic targets. I had that day loaded a roll of Kodak BW400CN that I found all by it's lonely at CVS, surrounded by rolls of cheap 35mm color film. My cat, Martha, unbeknownst to me, settled in to watch on the steps. I turned around, and was delighted by the conjunction of her and my similarly colored leather shoes. I snapped the picture and was pleased with the results.:)

Abstract Continuing 35MM Adventure

Hey, Orchidjulie - The Lines are clearly visible on the negatives. However the problem does not appear uniformly. Some sections of the roll are affected worse than others. Also the lines line up perfectly with the ridges on the pressure plate. My scanner is a HP office jet, at 300 dpi. Thanks for looking!

This is from the last roll through the ZX-60, as it appears to have an uncorrectable problem with the pressure plate scratching the negatives. Nevertheless, these three came out better than I expected, in spite of the tiny lines running the length of the negative. I think they all have an abstract 'feel' to them. Film is Fuji Superia Xtra 400.

I use mostly older film cameras right now, so I guess I better be cautious. Also, what types/brand of dessicant are popular?

I am in the habit of taking my photographic equipment with me every morning in the car it's often cold and Sometimes raining, these days. I was wondering if the moisture is bad for the camera equipment. What type of desiccant do you recommend? Should I be taking the camera with me when it's very cold or damp?

Not familiar with the PZ 10. I have the 28-80 and it's a real sharp lens. It sells pretty cheaply these days, and isnt the sturdiest lens around, but pretty good glass.

Was in a shopping center early on a Sunday. The place was deserted, and the foliage was especially brilliant. Hope I captured some of what impressed me.

I certainly will look into tinkering with the image scans. I guess for my linux home computer Id need t2 install something like Gimp or Picasa. Thanks for the heads up, even though I'm more concerned now with the art of 'taking' good pictures I cant neglect 'post' as a place to put the final creative stamp on them. I look forward to learning this aspect of the hobby, also.

Thanks for the kind words. "Bring back a little bit"? Do you mean reduce the color saturation and contrast or increase?

Thanks for the feedback, jford. Actually I'm using on those pics fuji 100 ASA. Nice of you to mention the crisp focus on Martha. Its not a simple matter for me to focus with the manual lens. Dont know if its inexperience or middle age. :)

Having used these forums to rid myself of a faulty lens, I have finally started (i think) to take some decent photos, albeit not digitally. I recently posted a few of my faves with this new lens here:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-your-photos/207915-macro-new-photographer-update.html

In the meantime ive been busy acquiring some great pieces on ebay, all 35mm at this point as i don't feel comfortable transitioning to digital just yet. Some of the cameras ive picked up recently are the zx-60, a p-3 and and some lenses as wellincluding a pentax-af 28-90 zoom and most recently a pentax-a 50/2. I hope to be posting photos with this new gear shortly. In the meantime im enjoying the forums and all the great pics :)

Terry
