These lenese are not too bad. I have a Cosmicar/Pentax 8-48 which I reviewed (at 48mm) against the 06 9AT 45mm) . The review is here:

Cosmicar/Pentax 8-48mm/f1.0-1.2 on the Q - PentaxForums.com

Good to see someone else appreciating these lenses.

I wonder if they will send you two so you will still have one to use if you have to send the first one back for recalibration. That would be professional level support.

I notice the package includes " 1*rope " Is that because it can also be used as a boat anchor? Or for personal use because dying of embarrassment is too protracted?

On a more serious and practical note (for the technical minded) would 16X digital zoom mean effectively a 1MP image at full zoom? (Irrespective of any decline in optical quality, does the number of effective megapixels halve at each step for 2, 4, 8 and 16? Or does it not work that way?)

Welcome to the Forums. Yes, the first time with a DSLR can be a bit daunting. However, we have access to some amazing resources on this site. A good plave to start would be the review of the K-S2 which you will find here: Pentax K-S2 Review - Introduction | PentaxForums.com Reviews

To get there (without the link), go to the menu at the top of this page, where it says "Forums, Cameras, Lenses, Accessories, etc ..." and click on "Cameras". From the drop down menu, select "Pentax K-mount DSLRs" and then go down to the K-S2, click on that and then click on the "In-depth Staff Review". In that you will find some recommended settings as well as a lot of other good info that will more than get you started.

Sorry if this is a bit detailed, but I like to be sure that someone is not left wondering how to get somewhere. There is so much info on the Forums.

Enjoy your retirement
Peter

Great shots. I know what you mean about everything have to line up just right. I took a swag of shots last week for just one that was OK. Tonight may be a possibility too if the moon stays down long enough.

Nice shots. The red fox was very cooperative. I have one that seems to have set up a territory around my place at the moment. I have trail cams set to snap it. But they are a feral pest here. Your coyote looks like he has been in a scrap or two (front leg) and the white tailed deer is poking its tongue out at you.:lol:

Another "Hi" from Australia, Annabelle. The moment I saw the name I new there had to be a connection. Does your Dad let you use that fantastic camera he won a few months ago? There are people here who will be happy to advise you on what you need for your fashion photography (or what he has that you could use)!:lol:

I don't think it needs to be cropped. But it looks slightly underexposed to me. I went in to Microsoft Office Picture Manager (it is no longer included in Office) and boosted the midtone just a bit. That looked OK to me but it is a matter of taste.

Welcome to the Forums. We really don't mind what equipment you use (there is even a non-Pentax camera forum) although there is naturally a bias towards Pentax/Ricoh. I have a very old Ricoh film camera myself somewhere although I doubt it works any more. Anyway, all this talk means less photography - start posting some pics!

Too many good ones again, My choice goes against the trend.

This is one I almost went for. I have seen prop wash like that with the naked eye watching aircraft taking off in high humidity.

Very nice shot and a good back story. I was impressed by how distinct the colours were - except the murky band at the bottom which looks kind of greyish, That may just be an artefact of rainbows though. The mauve band is clear. But it got me to thinking whether a rainbow would look different taken with a CMOS and a CCD sensor. I wonder if anyone has done that comparison, either on a rainbow or light split by a prism.

You are preaching to the converted! I was late getting in to the Q as well but for some applications it is hard to beat.

Hi Jose. Welcome to the Forums. The Q is a nice little system and the 01 had a good reputation (I have them both too). I have not had any problems but your idea about cleaning the contacts is probably the place to start (both camera and lens contacts). I use isopropyl alcohol. Let us know how you go.

I will take your word that it is the ISS. Always fun to catch those things. I have caught Iridium flares. I have seen the ISS done with a long lens and stacked teleconverters. Not sharp but you could make out the general shape. It would be tricky to get in just the right position for that.
