Wow, brilliant pic mate, love the lighting and processing
It reminds me of some I have taken with my old Oly E-1 with ccd sensor. The ccd just renders the pics brilliantly

I've done this before and wondered where the hell the .jpg came from too.
Now reading this I need to keep my clumsy fingers off the fx button.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been away camping.
I'm using a K-50 with mine and have never had a problem with it, once I've done the precise calibration it performs very well, sometimes the calibration takes a while though.

It's trial and error to find a combination that works well with the thing, I have had much better success at the long end and get clean exposures @ 300mm of up to 60 seconds whereas with the 10mm it seems to vary a lot.
A few things that have caused problems for me were the ground (how stable was it), were there any vibrations, even a little breeze can mess things up. Try the digital zooming function all the way in with live view on a star and you will then see if there is any movement. Were you using a remote shutter release, the timer, or just your finger?
Has the astrotracer symbol shown up on the reat lcd along with the green gps symbol?

The K10 is a capable camera, I use mine still most times I go out along side my K50. The colours from the thing are awesome. It feels good in the hands and performs quite well as long as you don't bump up the iso. Long exposures give great results as long as noise reduction is left on.

Mine was a Pentax SP500, I still have it today :)
It disappeared for a fair while, then my brother mentioned an old camera he had, the dirty mongrel had swiped it somehow.

Thankyou very much everyone.
Yes it is a great part of the world, we plan to do another trip through there but heading further east this time into Big Desert or starting the Border track from the top near Renmark. My mates are crossing the Simpson later this year, I would love to join but it's in the middle of the school term which locks it out for me.
