Steve, thanks a lot for this link - plenty of useful information for me. I was surprised to read that PMK Pyro is actually not that old formula - was invented in 1991. I'd guess it had been at the beginning of the century rather than at the end.
And for the scanning - I plan to go the traditional way and use an enlarger :)
regards,
Chris

Well, as I learned just a moment before, PMK is not an as old formula as I thought, so indeed it may work out with pretty much everything available.
regards,
Chris

PMK Pyro dedicated film?

Hi everyone,
So I've been thinking to try out the PMK Pyro developer and I read somewhere that there are (there were?) films dedicated to this process, or at least giving better results than the others. Does anyone have any knowledge about it? Or maybe the opposite - which one should be avoided? The present choices from my fridge would be: Neopan 400, APX 100, Fomapan 100 and 400, IlfordPan 50.
I'm aware that this could be more valid in the past, when there were more brands on the market and more folks processing in B&W.
Nevertheless, maybe nowadays still there are some better and worse choices.
regards,
Chris

Good point - sounds reasonable. I've just reached 'dangerous' camera age - we will see :)
Indeed, my camera doesn't collect much dust on the shelf - I hope that helps to avoid the problem.

Hi,
So as it has been mentioned, K-50 is prone to aperture mechanism failure but apart from that, it's a great camera. I've owned my K-50 for 3 years now, the shutter count is 15 000 and it's fine. Based on online tutorials, fixing the aperture mechanism is feasible as long as you have some basic DIY skills. As an amateur, I'm very satisfied with the camera and I don't think it will be a limitation to my photography anytime soon. Thus, I believe you should be absolutely fine with it. The lens seems to have a very useful range of focal lengths. Little dust is not a problem.
Yes, in Poland we pay through the nose for photo equipment, but what can you do... You can try to by abroad:)

Tmax, Tri-x or Ilford HP5?

Hi,
I used to use Trix a lot and I can say it's a very good product and pleasant to work with. The grain might be a bit bigger than in HP5+ but still very decent for ISO 400. It is also quite tolerant for underexposure. HP5 is also very nice to work with so whichever one you choose from the two, you will be fine. Fomapan 400 has a more pronounced grain but I wouldn't call it bad stuff and you might also try it once just to check if you want to stick to it or not. I got some nice pics with all of them but Trix was ma favored.
To the existing list, I'd add Neopan 400 (by Fuji) - I'd place it just next to HP5 in terms of quality, but I don't know if it's still in production.
regards,
Chris
