First time I've caught these interesting plants in bloom; in fact the only way I noticed it was the flowers sticking up out of a jungle of vegetation. Had to use my kayak paddles like ski poles to get where I had a reasonably clear shot. Shutter speed was 1/100 sec,

Took a hike, and did some kayaking, in the Shaver's Creek Environmental Center (Penn State's environmental/learning center) acreage. I realized when I returned home, the new wildflowers I'd found were all of the white variety. They are: Mayapple(3 pics) and Sweet white violet (I pic).

Finally hunted down two solitary Pink lady slipper orchids back in the Scotia Barrens of Central Pennsylvania. The first picture is with the K-70 with it's 24.2 mpix sensor and with PSR on, and the second is with the Minolta A2 with it's 8mpix 2/3 sensor and with the Jpeg setting at "Extra Fine"...the exif shown is for the Minolta. Both are quite acceptable unless you're going for enlargement more than 16 x20(A2).

Those not familiar with th X-70, it was Pentax's first attempt at a P&S Superzoom (24X).I bought it strictly for Eagle/Hawk photography, but find I'm carrying it a lo while just traipsing around. 12Mpix . I've turned the time stamp off.

The Lower Trail is a 17mile trail in Central Pennsylvania that follows the banks of the Frankstown Branch of the Juniata River from Williamsburg, PA to Alexandria. It was once a canal for hauling iron ingots from the Mt. Etna Furnace, then it was filled in and became a railroad bed for doing the same. Now it's part of the rails-to-trails program. Great hiking/biking(totally flat) Trail.
