I too have one of those OpTech straps as well and have had it for six years now, the most comfortable strap I ever used and at only $30 (at the time I bought it) it is totally worth every penny, now I gotta go and buy like four more of them, they are that awesome...

I always have used Lr, and when I want to do some tweaking and modifications to an image I use Ps, I've been using the stand alone Lr6 for many years, but as of last week I purchases a loupdeck+ controller so I had to upgrade not only my OS, but Lr as well, now I have found and installed Lr classic 2020 cc (stand alone edition)and I love it, especially with my new loupdeck+

I've recieved my Loupdeck the other night, have only about 1 hour on it so far and I just love it, I like being able to do multiple adjustments at the same time and not having to line my cursor up to those tiny slider triangles one at a time. This controller is fully customizable and I have already customized some knows. Processing my images takes a lot less time with this thing.
My wife is new to light room and hates searching all around the menus and adjustment panels, now she can easily learn the loupdeck in a matter of minutes and Lr isnt so intimidating to her anymore

I probably will, on the Loupdeck site there are reviews that also have videos on the device, I found them very helpful, I watched several videos and did some research to find out my lightroom was outdated, so when I tried to upgrade it, I was told to upgrade my operating system to Windows 10, my version was 8, my version of Lr was 6.4, and Loupdeck only works on Lr7.4 or newer.nbut needless to say, both of my upgrades went smoothly without a hitch, im actually liking the improvements of the new lightroom classic

I love pulling my DFA 150-450 out at air shows and such, one time someone asked me about it, was surprised it was Pentax and commented on the looks and on the build quality after I let him check it out. Recently though I got the DFA100wr and thought that that was the best looking lens by far........but.......then I got the FA 77 limited, this lens by far, is the one I am most proud to have, it just oozes quality and style.....I'm just kicking myself for not getting it sooner, now I'm pining for the other limiteds, but I gotta wait because I gotta spend $$$ to upgrade my computer.....

My thoughts exactly, I didn't buy the
K1 because I thought I would like it better, or thought it was going to replace my crop body. I bought it for a certain niche in my photography, and it fits in well with my K3, they compliment each other and have their own uses and cover the shortcomings of the other.....they get equal usage.

Hey folks, I just received my (new to me) 77mm limited, I got it for a killer deal at $400. When I got the box, I was thinking wow this this has a bit of weight to it. Once I opened it up I was realizing it was because of the glass and metal construction.
Now......I have never even seen a limited lens in person so I didn't know what to expect, I've even heard how legendary they are........all i can say is WOW!!!! This is the nicest lens I've seen yet, the build quality is just perfect! I am very impressed. Even at full price this lens is totally worth it.
I have collected mostly zooms and have a handful of primes, mostly vintage A lenses and i have a DA 50mm, f1.8, and a DFA 100mm macro f2.8 which i am very impressed with, but compared to this 77mm, it pales in comparison, even though the 100mm is very well built. I popped off a shot with my K1 of a tree and just looking at the image on the camera, I think I will be shooting mostly primes from here on out! Now......where to find me the rest of the 3 amigos.....

I recommend the K3, however this post is more about the lens, you will use it for children and skittish cats, I highly recommend the 55-300 PLM, it has the fastest focusing of all Pentax lenses, for that reason alone makes it worth every penny, then get something like a DA 16-85, I personally never used one, but I hear nothing but good things about that lens

A K5 in that condition should sell for around $200 or less, I have had one for 9 years and at one time it was my only body and main workhorse. This camera never let me down, it is built like a tank. I still have it and my wife uses it now for learning purposes, she will most likely move up to one of my K3s, but I will most likely hang on to it....

I'm following this thread as well, I have hiked with aK3/ 150-450 combo as well on a sling strap that I made. Yes it was rather weighty, but still doable, now that I have a K1, I really dont think I will notice the difference, I also had a Lowpro backpack on me as well with several lenses and tripod and other necessities

Jump in to the shallow or deep end?

I have two K3s, a K5, a K01, and recently a new to me K1, I always thought the apsc cameras fit my hands perfectly, but required a grip for that "perfect" fit in my hands and I usually get a grip as soon as I bought the bodies. However, when I got the K1 I realised I dont need the grip for that comfortable feeling, this camera fits my hands perfectly with out a grip. So....what I am getting at is for me the cameras all are just as weighty and bulky in comparison to full frame or APSC, ya I usually go hiking with the APSC bodies because that is the only time I wont carry the grips with me due to weight and bulk restrictions in my bag, otherwise I will usually have the grips on the bodies. None of my bodies are "better" than the others, they just have their niche in my workflow, however I do prefer to use the K1 the most, but that is minimal. I love using the APSC bodies for their reach because of the crop factor. I prefer the K1 for landscapes, portraits, and recently I prefer it for my macro work. so basically it is you who has to decide just what it is that you need the camera for, luckily for me I have saved money up steadily over the years and I now have plenty of gear and pretty much many options as to what I want to use because of gear availability at hand. but I can say this for sure, to me all the pentax models are equal to each other, neither of them are "better" than the other, they are tools of the trade that serve their individual purposes. hope this helps you out...
for reach purporses go for the APSC
for wide angle go for the full frame

this is awesome news, I have used the heck out of my 16-50, but since I got my K1, i would really love to be able to use it on the fullframe setting, now my wishes are being answered.... now, watch out for the huge influx of old 16-50s you are going to find for sale, once I get the DFA lens, I will have no need for the DA, the same goes for my 50-135, im really hoping they do the same with that lens....

Should I finally invest in a K-1?

I pondered over the last few years wethor or not to get the K1, I already have two K3s and a K5, but I felt I needed the K1, Ive had one for two months now and I am not regretting it one bit. if I were you I would keep the K3, reason being is my K3 has its place in my bag of gear, mainly for the frame rate denser resolution and for the reach on my telezooms which I have a 55-300 PLM and a 150-450. I love the IQ of my K1 and am amazed at the DR of this camera, I like the way it handles and does just what I want it to do without diving into menus just to make a small change. I can use the camera and keep my eye on the viewfinder and make adjustments all the while with ease. I will be using my K1 mostly for studio work and for landscapes, I have already done some macro work with it and am impressed.
I have learned with Pentax, that you should just get what you can afford NOW, dont wait until the next big thing comes out with them, because you will be waiting for ever and during that time you can be shooting some awesome images with existing gear.
I got the K1 for $1k and they can be had for that amount easily if you know where to look, in fact there is one for sale at the moment here in the marketplace, you might wanna go and check that out.
Buy now so you can shoot NOW, thats my motto...

Beginner help -- choosing lenses for K-3

When I first started in DSLRs I started with the kit lenses included with my Kx camera, they were DALs 18-55, and 50-200. ya they were great, they did the job, but then I was yearning for more and I wanted weather resistant cameras and lenses, so I purchased the K5 and the DA18-135, I was actually blown away, this combination performed flawlessly and it was rugged and weather sealed, it handled everything I ever threw at it. I used that combination for 90% of my shots for 5~6 years until I could afford more expensive lenses, during that time I managed to figure out my main focal lengths that I used most, zooms allow that, they help you determine what works for you.
I still to this day have the K5/18-135 combo, my wife uses it extensively with her learning photography, occasionally she asks to use my 100mmWR lens for macro, that of which she is leaning towards.
I have moved up to the K3 (have two of them now) and the K1, I have faster lenses, due to the fact that I spent the last ten years saving up for them and learning on the K5/lens combo mentioned above. I have had the HD DA 55-300, and lost it in a home burglary, bought the PLM version with insurance money. I have found that both lenses are nice, but with one huge difference....Noise and focus speed. if you like to listen to a loud whirring noise while the lens racks in and out searching to lock in focus.....then the HD one is for you, if you want super quiet and fast focusing....then get the PLM, take this as serious advice...
I mostly recommend you get your hands on a DA 18-135, and a 55-300 PLM first, then you can experiment and find your most used focal lengths for when it comes to determining what size prime lenses to buy, plus once you DO get those primes, you will STILL use the two lenses mentioned above because THEY ARE THAT GOOD. I also recommend that you get Pentax lenses that have weather sealing, this is one of my biggest reasons why I have shot Pentax all this time...
I still use the 18-135 occasionally on my K01, but that is my walk around set up for downtown walks here in Vegas. for my pro shooting I mainly use my DA*s 16-50 f2.8, and 50-135 f2.8, I have one on each of my K3 bodies. I also like my ultra wide Sigma (yes I have a Sigma lens) 8-16mmwhich I just love using, my other two lenses I love using mainly on my K1 is my DFAs 150-450, and 100 f2.8 macro WR. currently saving up for a DFA15-30 f2.8.
I found a way to save up without breaking my bank, I allot myself $50 a week for "photo gear" fund, with lots of patience and time I find it isnt that hard to come up with funding for my hobbie, an old timer taught me that trick a while back, I'm not a rich man but $50 bux a week I never missed. I'm about a month or two away now towards my 15-30mm lens goal...
I have also figured out a way to get my hands on lots of great lenses, I comb the local pawn shops here in Vegas, nobody ever goes in those stores looking for Pentax gear, thats how I find some good used gear, it is rare that I buy something brand new, the only thing I ever bought new over the last ten years was my K5 back in 2011, all the rest of my bodies and lenses are used, one time I had an issue but it got sent back and refunded by the seller, however I never had any issues otherwise, either from the marketplace here or pawnshops locally, even got my K1 off of OfferUp and the seller was local, I met with him in person and did the deal.
