Make the Most of Your Pentax Camera: a Series of Articles Provided by Ricoh

I realized that in the k-1 viewfinder the central point "indicator" has a different size between SEL on central point and SPOT. SPOT is smaller, then also this can confirm the statement in the RICOH site.

However I redo a quick test and I can't find any difference, perhaps I have to do a test with pan and tilt head.... with these dimensions we are talking about millimeters or maybe even less.

Why in the step 6 you start from the white square center and in the step 9 you start from a side?

It's strange that this isn't in no one manual and testing it there isn't evidence but who cares we are speaking about millimeters. Ok I too will trust to RICOH.

Canon has a similar system but not restricted to central point.

Another recap of what I'm expecting from the Photokina:
1- The mockup of the two RCs compatible with Full Frame
2- An almost ready DA* 11-18
3- Reworked DA* 16-50 (CA fixed) and DA* 50-135 (ring SDM)
4- The mockup of the D-FA* 85
5- The mockup of the D-FA 70-200 f/4
6- A new 645 with full frame MF sensor
7- The mockup of a new 645 lens, I think a 45-85mm zoom to match the new big sensor
8- An APS-C flagship camera
9- The new GR

Cool! After reading this I would ask to Pentax this: ASTROTRACER with Interval Composite ( bright mode) allowed, obviously with ASTROTRACER working also between the interval shots....

Exposing for the highlights

The purpose to expose for the highlights is that in the shadows there is the greatest amount of noise, then "build" shadows from highlights creates a less noisy picture. Obviously this works without burning the highlights.

I don't want the new products rate of the competitors... my wallet doesn't want this...

I think that you must have more confidence in RICOH and PENTAX.

AF Spot mode: hidden fact revealed - AF point is 30% smaller than in "select"

I put a AA battery on a table, the 77mm Limited, then I focused the far background. After this I tried to focus on the battery with the two focus modes putting the battery outside the central point, in both cases the camera has focused when the battery was between the central point and the nearest one

There are some evidence that the statement on RICOH site are correct even if doing some tests the two modes look the same.

Canon has a similar feature, there is a "SEL" like mode but you can choose two AF points size.

70? 30?

perhaps the sense is that after the k-3 the central point is smaller than the k-3 central point in select?

SPOT or Select on central point are equal, at least on k-1, I checked. it's a bad translation or a wrong sense of the phrase.

There are some evidence that the statement on RICOH site are correct even if doing some tests the two modes look the same.

about the PS use: you have to look for better color gradations and less noise, not "only" resolution.

Naaa, I think that "2 classes" could be related to lenses. If it's related to cameras we will see another FF with less specs than K-1, not other two new cameras.

Why Do YOU Stay With Pentax?

PENTAX is the best in objects rendering and perceptual colors. They have the ability to put in the picture what your eyes see and your brain remember. With yhe digital age this seems not evaluable but you have to spent many time on the pc and there isn't the pixie dust tool in LR.
Apart from this, I participate in courses and workshops where I'm the only with a PENTAX and I see many frustrated people because Canon / Nikon and others, to build a big cameras and lenses lineup, cripple the gears and raise the costs. Best value for money? It's not enough, it's a photo-philosophy.
