Considering the fact that a lens lifespan as a viable product is at least a decade, and the fact that a FF 645 telephoto lens is hardly any more expensive to make than a cropped 645 lens (the gain is in wide angles), the DA lens in question is baffling.
The 90 Macro lens is a D-FA and it it is certainly not meant for the film 645 shooters. Hopefully the patented lens is the one that has been for years on the roadmap and may not see the light of day.
The cause for cropped 645 camera has diminished now that Pentax have a FF K-mount camera and lenses.

Find it odd they would make a cropped 645 lens now.
But then the patented lens may never see the light of day.

My K-3 battery last for 11 shots in worst case. If you machinegun images battery life is no issue. 99,99% of the time I look through the viewfinder composing an image. If I have to use electricity in order to be able to that as well I could just as well find me another hobby.....

The widespread use of cell phones and image making means that more people will get into photography and eventually buy a real camera....
Cell phones have killed the P&S camera. DSLR have reached marked saturation and the law of diminishing return.

Much more cost-, weight-, and hassle-effective to buy a K-3 and a lens for APS with the same angle of view as you want for the FF-telephoto lens combo.

They should. The going price for the lens is more than I paid for it brand new almost 20 years ago. Expensive Pentax lenses keep their value more than almost any other, but still people are complaining about the new price (case in point; I bought the FA* 200/4 Macro the day it was released for about $1200. It has been known to sell for up to $4000 used!)

That is expensive. I'll gladly sell mine for less. Unfortunately it is out of adjustment and need to be placed in an optical bench - in Japan! :(

Mirrorless camera advantages

You get less DOF control with larger formats (within reason). Thats why large format cameras have tilt and shift control in order to be able to control DOF at all. What you gain in one end you loose in the other. As a thought experiment lets consider two imaginary formats where one use a 600mm lens (bigger format) to get the same angle of view as a 50mm lens on the other format (smaller). Which format have most control over DOF? Aperture range hardly matters....
Most images have everything in focus and most of the rest have a lot in focus. APS isn't limited at all in terms of DOF control. Successful images shot at 1.4 on FF is rare as hens teeth and constitute approximately 0.0000000001% of all worthwhile images that are shot of subjects that are three dimentional (ie where the whole subject is not at the same focus plane). If shoot at infinity or a flat subject then DOF doesn't matter; only speed does....
Another issue is that one stop in DOF difference rarely make any significant difference in the finished image. If in doubt use the DOF preview and see the difference!

To answer the original question; mirrorless doesn't have any significant advantages. Unless you shoot close to a power outlet the size advantage is eaten up by the volume and weight of the two extra batteries you have to carry compared to a DSLR.

Strictly speaking there is no midnight sun on Iceland as it is south of the polar circle. There is a small island off northern Iceland that lies on the polar circle. I've lived in Iceland for two years.

I expect a K-3ii replacement pretty soon. The KP and the K3ii are an ill fit together in the line-up. Over here the KP cost significantly more than the K3ii!

Whereas it is nice to have a complete lens line-up, precious few people are buying 85mm lenses, let alone a 1.4 one....
I for one think it is nice that they show lenses they intend to market at some point in the future...

If profit is dropping, but there still is a profit, And they are allocating resourses from consumer goods towards higher end stuff and industrial products, then everyhting is OK...

I've always said that the future of digital photography is in smaller formats. That doesn't mean that larger format are obsolete, just that there's hardly any reason to carry large cameras and lenses in order to achieve outstanding technical quality images anymore. Hence, fewer people will over time...
