I took a look at you 500PX link. Are you sure you want to sell this stuff? Your work is very good with what you have. I get the desire to go to the A7III. If Tamron and Sigma made their 70-200 F2,8 available in the E-mount I might join you.

Post processing help

Hello all,
I just returned from Universal Studios theme park in Orlando Florida. I downloaded my images and got to work post processing. Just so you know I have very weak skills when it comes to post processing. The photo below was shot with a shop window behind the subjects. I was using the pop up flash for fill light. The flash reflection off the window and back to the camera right at belly button level of the center subject. I did not think much of it at the time until I opened the image in Photoshop Elements. If I had the skills to move that flash reflection to the tip of the center subjects wand it would greatly enhance the image. If anybody has any suggestions on how to "cut and paste" the flash reflection to the tip of her wand I would greatly appreciate it. I have both Photoshop Elements 15 & 11 to work with.
Thanks,
Attached is the JPEG that I used Photoshop Elements with.

I have the RAW image but don't know how to up load it.

Wow just wow. Can you tell us a little bit about the set up. Did you scout the locations the night before? Did you use a tripod? Did you need permission to shoot where you did? Great shots

I have been using My Pentax K-30 for youth Ice hockey for the last 3 years. I have a sigma 70-200 F2.8 and I get some keepers. This one is shot through the glass behind the goalie.

Fwwidall,
Have you tried to shoot through the glass with that lens? I shoot with a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 but trying to reach the other end of the rink is a lost cause with this lens. The opposite blue line is about as far as I can reach. I'm happy to know someone besides my self is trying to shoot sports with a Pentax. I love snickering at the cannon/Nikon users who look down on my Pentax while they are shooting in auto with the kit lens. Indoor hockey is a real challenge to shoot. You look like you have it down.

Two years ago I purchased a use Sigma 70-200 F2.8 on the forms to shoot Hockey. Its a very heavy beast on a K-30 but it takes very good shots. If you can find one (Sigma gave up on the Pentax version) I would recommend it highly. I Know Fulda is a long way from the Twin Cities but if you are ever on your way through I would be happy to show you what it can do. I took this shot through the very dirty glass at the arena.

Richard,
Yes I was shooting through the glass. This particular arena is very poorly lit and very cold. Also I'm not very good at P.P. I know there are noise reduction programs available I just have not purchased on yet. The photo below is what it is capable of when not shooting through the glass, K-30, Sigma 70-200 F 2.8 ISO 1600, Shutter speed 1/320 sec Focal length 200 MM. This image is cropped

I have a Sigma 70-200 F.28. For indoor sports like hockey it is the only lens that I would consider. I purchased the Tamron first at a local camera store and it just does not focus fast enough to shoot hockey. The image quality is better with the Tamron. If you are shooting weddings it would be an outstanding lens for the price. But for Hockey you need the focus speed. The pic attached is with a K-30 and the Sigma.

Have you used them before? If so any suggestions on brand. Would I just be better off returning the Sigma flash and getting one that does support wireless? Thanks for any advice.

K-30 and Sigma EF-610 as a slave

Hello All,
I'm just getting started with my K-30 and Digital SLR in general. So if this question displays my ignorance I apologize in advance. Is it possible to make the Sigma EF-610 flash work as a slave? If so how would you go about it? The switch on the back of it only has 4 settings. 1 (off) 2 (TTL) 3 (MH) 4 (ML). I would like to play around with it off camera to see the effects of directional lighting but I'm not sure how to set it up. The instructions that came with the flash are nearly useless. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Ruggiex has a great point big bump for him. Also do they have any plan for sports shooters. I would really like to see a Pentax version of a 70-200 F 2.8. The Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD Zoom Lens minus the VC and with a WR label + a serrious housing like the Cannon and Nikon would be a good starting point.

What did you get for Christmas?

I game this to myself. I got a refurbished Tamron 70-200 F 2.8. I waited to long on the black Friday special for the Sigma 70-200 F 2.8 at B&H and had to settle for the Tamron. At $619.00 It was not a bad buy for a Christmas present to my self and my wife. But to shoot hockey the Hyper-Sonic Motor of the Sigma would be so much better. Perhaps next year I will learn to pull the trigger faster on the black Friday deals.

Why is there never a 70-200 F 2.8 for Pentax. It must be that the pentax version is much more robust then the cannon and Nikon versions. Either that or people who shoot pentax know how to treat their equipment. So who thinks this is a good deal?

Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG APO OS HSM for Pentax 589109 B&H

I've been drooling over this lens for months. Does anybody think it will drop in price any more? Will Pentax ever produce one? Will Tamron ever give us the HSM on their lense?

Thanks for the info everyone. When using a lens like this and shooting at a moving subject what focus setting would you use. The attached photo was not the only focus point I missed. Almost all of them were focused behind the intended target. When I shooting with my Sigma 28-200 (this is a 10year old lens I purchased for my zx-7) at my children's soccer games I'm shooting in Continuous with 11 point. In most of these shots I set the camera to AV and opened the lens all the way up. If I'm going to spend this much money on glass I would like to know why I'm missing the focus and what I can do to get it to work the way i want it. Also any opinions on this lens compared to the Sigma with the HSM. I played around with a Sony A77 with the Tamron lens that has the USD motor and it seemed to focus a lot faster. When I set up that camera I used a single dot for my focus but i was not tracking moving targets. I've attached two more photos one that I think is in focus and one that is way out. I don't know how you miss focus on something as big as a truck but I'm pretty sure it was something I did not the camera or lens.

So I went to the store I purchased my K-30 from and they had a referb Tamron 70-200 F2.8 on sale. I want this lens to shot indoor hockey. The store was kind enough to let me take it out side with my K-30 and shoot at moving cars. This is one of the photos I took. I expected that with this lens all the way open at F2.8 I would get a very shallow depth of field As you can see from the image that is not what I got. This is the discription of the lense from B& H Tamron 70-200 F/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro AF lens for Pentax AF. I was zoomed out to 200 MM. I'm a serious nubie at DSLR so any advice would be appreciated.

Adam,
I was hopping that the manufactures have already released some info to our friends at B&H. I assume that there is some lead time involved in placing orders and getting merchandising plans together. I'm hopping for a sneak peak.

I'm wondering what we can expect for a Black Friday sale at B&H. Specifically lenses for our beloved Pentax DSLR. If you can talk tamron or Sigma into dropping the price on their 70mm to 200mm F2.8 by half I'm in. Seriously, any info on what you did last year and if we can expect more of the same or are bigger things on tap for Black Friday. Thanks
