I've had a think about your question.

I sold my Tamron 70-200 2.8 because it was heavy. In its place came the 70-210 f4 which is a revelation in terms of weight and very good image quality. I have the 24-70, 28-105, 70-210 as well as the fat 50 1.4 and 43 1.9. All have a role to play depending on the what you intend to do. Hike all day? 28-105. Low ambient light? 24-70. Feeling like challenging yourself on a walk? Take the 50 1.4. Street photography? The 43 all day long - literally! And no, I personally don't think that the extra stop is worth the weight and cost of the 70-200 2.8. Others do, however. I don't have an issue with who makes what lens. Is it sharp enough and does it do the job? If yes, then that's enough. If I had to keep three lenses then they would be the 24-70, 70-210 and the 50 1.4. You do everything with them. Heck, you can have the 50 1.4 glued to your lens mount and never see a need to change it. It's by far the best lens I have have ever used, and I used to have a 35 2.8 macro, which, as everyone knows, is the best lens in the world..!

I'd sell a kidney for that.

My worry is that I'll have aged too much by the time it gets released! Greenland will have melted completely by then...

Thank you for your kind comment. The lines are the shadows of small sticks of the bamboo blind - the room faces west and the sun shines through until late.

I have to say that the camera's spot meter on the K1 does wonders for isolating a subject - if you get it right, and this can be a challenge at times!

Used the K1's spot meter reading to read for the exposure and it darkened the extremities of the scene nicely.

I like the suggestion of there being something else there, besides the leaf itself...

The good thing for you folks in the US is that it's a lot cheaper than here in the UK! We are paying the equivalent of $2379 for the pleasure..!

Thanks Adam. Here in the UK I think we're going to get a lot more familiar with the indoors than we've been up to now! I suspect we'll be told to remain indoors even more than now - at the moment we can still go out to exercise but things will probably change. I'm going to take out my K1 and 50 1.4 - The Fat One! - and get some shots of the kids as they go about their homeschooling. I very much hope to look back on this in the future and say, Remember When..?

I echo your sentiment and wish the best to everyone here on the forums.

Pentax has gone crazy! And not for the first time! Seriously though, it's great to see a 70-210mm f4 with a light and portable body. I've got the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 but don't use it as much as I'd like because it is heavy. Like you I think I will re-assess... It might be time to look at the new offering. And I'm also hoping Pentax goes completely nuts and releases the 85 1.4 this year!
