My experience with GPS on before powering down is that a full battery is down to zero after about two days (the camera being shut off all the while).

Glad to enter the forum !
Some 4 years ago I changed from Nikon to a Pentax K-5 and I have had no regrets. Nevertheless, my brand new K-3 II is going back to the shop (SN with power off "risk" + recent mirror flop event).
There is no specific focus in my photography, mainly my children and grandchildren, and travelling photography.
As far as lenses is concerned, I have recently changed from the Pentax DA 18-135mm zoom to the HD Pentax DA 16-85mm zoom, because I felt the higher pixel count of the K-3 had to be matched by a sharper lens. For the same reason I have done away with filters. For special occasions I have the DA* 55mm F1.4 lens, but I am often too lazy (and a bit reluctant ...scared of dust...) to put the latter on the camera.
All my shots are taken in RAW (DNG) and I enjoy processing them in Lightroom.

I guess I have had the same problem with my recently bought K-3 II, but thought it was a runaway shutter. See my recent thread. The camera is going back to the shop.

I bought my K3-II a couple of months ago and have only taken a few hundred shots so far. Yesterday, in the course of a walk in nice weather and a the point of taking another picture, the shutter started rattling away without stopping. The camera wouldn't power off the normal way and I eventually had to remove the battery to put it to a halt. The drive mode was on Continuous (H). After refitting the battery, the camera performed normally and I have used it for another day without trouble. The serial number of my camera is 6189049, which means it may a have an issue refusing to power off, but I gather that is a different story.
Of course I find this very disturbing ! Anyone else with the same problem ?
