Looking for comet Neowise I found the high Northern sky dominated by noctilucent clouds!
A rare sight. They are clouds at very high altitude, 76 - 85 kilometres. They are illuminated by the Sunīs rays slanting sidewise through the uppermost atmosphere while the lower atmosphere is in the Earthīs shadow.
Can only be seen summertime at high latitudes in the Northern hemisphere (at low altitudes in the Southern hemisphere).
Some very black clouds at middle height and a glow at the horizon.
Location: Norrkoping, Sweden. Time: July 21, 2020 01.31 local summer time.

Hello and welcome! I took the step to K-1 at the New Year 2020 and find the camera just great.
For your need, I can really recommend the SMC Pentax-FA 1:2 35 mm. One sits on my K-1 most of the time. I got it in fine shape at Tradera for about 1200 Swedish krona including the original sun shade, an item worth using.
This is the elder sister of the Plastic Fantastic Pentax DA 35 mm f 2,4 AL lens. I picked one up for 400 Sw Krona. It is extremely light and works perfectly well on the K-1. Stopped down to F 11 it shows no vignetting but there is some at fuller apertures. And it does not come with a sun shade as standard.

Very good information here! Helped me a lot.
I have two lenses, Meyer Optik Orestor 135 mm and Meyer Optik Orestegor 200. They share the same M42 mount. When used on my K3 II with an original Pentax adaptor the performance was downright disappointing. Both mechanically, the coupling was wobbly, and optically.
The cause: These lenses have such a narrow base that they do not mate to the Pentax K camera houses properly, just hang on the adaptor.
After reading this thread I cobbled together a kitchen-table solution. I made an epoxy fillet on the original M42 mount. This fillet extends the diameter just right so that the lens sits against the camera body.
First step: Make a template that guarantees that the mating surface is flat and exactly aligns with the original mount. I cut out a 42 mm hole in a flat plastic lid from a food container. Make sure that the plastic is of a type that epoxy glue does not bind to. Then i cut out the required outer diameter. Then I fixed this ring-shaped template onto the M42 mount using the Pentax adapter. Then I protected the adapter and most of the mount with adhesive tape.
Second step: I built a fillet between that template and the M42 mount. I used quick-setting epoxy glue with a filler of powdered chalk that I happened to have at hand. I applied it in three or four steps using a a wooden match as a tool. After hardening overnight I removed the template and trimmed away the surplus epoxy. I painted the fillet black to stop light leaks. The surface mating to the camera was left unpainted. It is perfectly flat and glossy.
(Caution: do not get epoxy on your hands or anything else.)
This worked lika a charm. The lens now sits firmly on the camera. No wobbling. No light leaks. And the Orestor/ Orestegor perform very well.
If there is any interest I can add photos to show details.

I used Nikon and Nikkors for quite a few years and the 105 mm f 2,5 Nikkor was super! (There are 2 versions, I had the one with a larger rear lens.) Very sharp and good bokeh. Mine had a large hood, bulky but effective. I used it on a Nikon F-3 usually with Fuji Superia negative film.
Before and after the Nikon period I used and use Pentax. I still have a Pentax SMC 105mm 2,8 m42. It is beautifully made and a joy to use. There is a K-mount version. Mine is a good lens but, I feel, not on par with the Nikkor. Perhaps better on a FF, I havenīt checked on my K-1. Some users love it, just check the review section here.

Very interesting!
1. I had no idea that the K-1 offers a colour invert function! I checked and it works even in Raw. I have not used it for negatives yet but if it works OK it would be great. Negatives are really hard to digitize.
2. The Pentax Bellows and Slide Copier from the 1970īs is beautifully made and a joy to use. The K-1 did not fit, but I trimmed away some metal and now it works just fine. See review here on Pentaxforums.

Strange weather. There was an athmospheric inversion out there. The "horizon" is not the real horizon but a more jagged artifact. Red sky at night, sailorīs delight the saying goes. But I did not feel it fit this time.
