I enjoy snapping my kids with the 50-135mm f2.8. It's a bit heavier than some of the other options but outdoors makes for a versatile zoom (no wide angle options but will go full body to headshots) and I like being able to open her up, although the sharpness suffers just a bit at f2.8.

Same with the Sigma 18-35mm. Better AF could make this a really good lens.

This rings true...
1. Took my baby photos with it, never parting with it. But the hexagonal bokeh irritates me at times.
2. Gave it to a friend after I got the 55mm f1.4
3. Still have, never use.
4. Sold
5. I had a Sigma 70-300 instead, sold
6. I got the A series instead for some reason, after a couple of years I have an ME Super on its way to go with it.
7. Got the Sigma 18-35mm as my normal zoom instead.
8. See above.
9. 50-135mm FTW
10. Love this. Small, sharp, CA goes away when you stop down a bit. But I use it as a manual focus lens so I could have an older macro instead.

If your fridge was closer I'd take it off you.

I've owned both. Short answer, both are good lenses, but for whatever reason the Sigma 50-150mm f2.8 didn't autofocus properly on my K3ii. It was fine on my K50, and on a friend's KS2. So I gave it to her and got a used Pentax 50-135mm. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome - the Pentax is a bit shorter I think, which I prefer, but most importantly the colours are much better. The Sigma had a muddy warmth that I didn't like (fixable in post but annoying to have to adjust), the Pentax is more saturated especially in the blues. It just seems to represent what I could see better. I'm still using the SDM and it's just fast enough for kids in the park, but for sport I would try converting to screw drive or geting something else.

My copy behaves exactly like this. It’s worse if I don’t use the lens for a while. I put up with it for the wonderful quality of the images.

I’m up to 100 posts, but reviews aren’t adding to my post count. Are they meant to? I want more raffle tickets!

I’m not disputing its excellence, and I would shoot with it if I had one. I’m just not a huge fan of what it represents.

I recently found two old Fuji point-and-shoot cameras in a box and after charging the batteries they work fine. Buttons are small but they both have a fully metal body and I don’t mind if they get destroyed. Two-year old took a 14mp extreme close-up selfie yesterday which might come out on his wedding day.

If you like gold-tinted spectacles then you could treat all but 1 or 2. Just need to remember not to leave your camera on AWB.

I had a Sigma 50-150 f2.8 which worked perfectly on my K50 but wouldn’t communicate consistently with my K3ii, autofocus and aperture control dropped out intermittently. I’ve heard other people had similar problems with this lens on later Pentax DSLRs.

This lens has a lot to answer for. The whole hyper-corrected, huge, heavy lens trend kicked off with this. It's the opposite of a Limited prime and because it's extremely sharp if you nail focus it demands good autofocus performance which led to this autofocus arms race of recent years that has been difficult for Pentax.

I'd be keen to know your thoughts, I might upgrade from K50 to KP one day. Is the Sigma 85mm f1.4 as good as people say?
