Go on, just try to find a native K-mount microscope adapter. Or a modern tilt-shift. And let's not even open up the P-TTL can of worms. Seriously, you just don't want it.

Prime lens focal length

In the early days of digital, when most photogs could only afford ASPC, 135mm, became too long to be convenient as a portrait lens and yet too short as a tele. That coupled with the ever improving performance of zooms
that also cover the range, is likely why dedicated 135mm lenses faded from common use.

Opinion, obviously, as most superlatives are. Curiously, most who have objected to this conjecture have not offered an alternate contender. Suggestions?

Even ignoring the hyperbole, it is a powerful image that captures the spirit of youthful rock n roller. Does that not an iconic image make? Again, suggestions for
an image more iconic(*).

* Hendrix at Monterey, lighting his guitar on fire? Not so much iconic rock and roll as counter culture moment, IMO. How about a shot of Townsend leaping off a Marshal
stack, legs apart and doing a pinwheel strum on his guitar? Yeah, I'll go for that. But it has to be suggested first to contend......

I have seen a lot more Fuji in the wild than Pentax here in Central TX.

On the other hand, I imagine a significant proportion of Leica products go straight to the display case/safety deposit box and never see the street.

I've been feeling that vibe too. I could very much see Pentax surviving as a specialist niche product while Nikon gets edged out of the big race.

Are they suggesting in the listing the red ring is significant? Could just be something the previous owner did to personalize his equip, nothing unusual in that.

Agreed.

While it is nice DPR has not been quite so openly hostile towards Pentax in recent years, there still exists a 'soft snark' in almost every mention or review. They simply can not compliment the brand
without simultaneously qualifying in someway to justify their Canikony/mirrorless bias. Thus, even when Pentax release a real winner, (K-3, K-1, KP et al), DPR will still insist it will only appeal to Pentax
diehards and that, at best, it represents the last gasp of a dying brand.

The 43mm corresponds to the diagonal across the 35mm/FF frame, that much I remember. I forget the justifications for the other two, though from my own personal experiences the 77mm is MUCH a easier walk around FF than 85mm.

Will you buy the k3 Mark 3?

I am squarely in the, "Yes, definitely...., eventually", corner. I've long seen the K-New as the eventual successor to my K-3. The (relatively) high street price on the K-New, and the fact that my K-3 is still kicking just fine,
means I won't be shopping until the price drops a bit.

Jupio battery

That echoes my experience. My Wasabis typically gave me 2/3 the shooting time of my genuine Pentax batteries. And the Wasabis also have much shorter total lifespan.
I have two Wasabi Li190 clones which have recently packed it in after ~15,000 shots, while my original Li190 is still going strong and still gives 2-3hrs+ shooting
time while running the LCD screen.

Has anyone actually measured the output of these third party batteries?

Shutter Release Cable for Pentax MV SLR

I have a small box full of shutter release cables, a common accessory from yesteryear with minimal usage in the present; similar to film specific lens filters.
If you pick up old camera bag lots from garage sales, shopgoodwill, etc, you too will soon have a small collection of these once necessary, now largely
superfluous tools, (except on that old film body, of course).

So, how many were made, by series?

That is very impressive if true. Current production is much, much less. M and A series were likely produced in even greater numbers, going by the
relative abundances available now. Of course, the vast majority of those F series lenses are kit lens zooms.

What if Pentax makes the next Q a DSLR?

But, why? The only thing the Q really needs is a viewfinder and that can be added while keeping it mirrorless. The future of the Q is already uncertain, at best. The prospect of a completely reengineered Q, incompatible with previous models is highly unlikely.

New K-New? Who Knew?

I've already pointed out that very irony in the past. Once you've adopted a pinnacle name, like K1, then there is no place to go but down.
K1 II is derivative of K1 and thus also reductive. And so each iteration of K1 will be as well. There can only ever be one K1, just as there
is only one LX, one K1000, etc.

New K-New? Who Knew?

The K5 IIs says otherwise.

Pentax' slower product release rate will keep the runaway names in check to some extent, but adopting an iterative naming policy will
ultimately mean increasingly complex names over time and the possibility of the occasionally kooky variant.

Clearly they've allowed such run-on names with their lenses.

With Ricoh's decision to brand the K-new as the K3 mk III, this is precisely what they have done. As such, we can someday look forward to the
utterly not confusing "K1 Mk IX sb IR variant 2" and other memorable camera names.

New K-New? Who Knew?

I think that is, mostly, a safe assumption. The KP belongs to the line of one off experimental bodies which include the likes of the KS-1
and KS-2. Each of those bodies explored new/different/unconventional concepts to varying success. Nonetheless, the KP as been
quite successful in it's own right, enough so to merit a possible successor. But failing a KPII(ugh), KP features are very likely to appear
in future bodies.

So, you're proposing the FF KP to be called the K-90? That would be confusing indeed. What then would be the
product name for the K-70 successor? K-90toobutnotthesameastheK-90KP perhaps?

I strongly suspect the inclusion of 4k will very much prove to be 'damned if you do' for Pentax. Ultimately, despite all the very vocals demands for video performance
the video specs on the Knew will still be viewed as 'not enough'.

I'll be very happy to be proven wrong.
