Nice photo. I agree with your winter analysis. After a brief flirtation with early gardening, and encountering frozen mulch at the surface today, winter is still hanging on.

Hi,
.
Here is an astro-landscape from the Dolpo region in Nepal. Taken from a high camp at 4,900m, 12 x 30" with astrotracer, stacked with Sequator. The mountain is the Dhaulagiri II at 7,751m

It is named for the sound of its vocalization, which sounds vaguely like: "pill-will-willET". It is a large sandpiper (family Scolopacidae). This species breeds along the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico coastlines, the northern Great Plains (abundant there) and Great Basin.

Refreshing falls here, everybody. Sure is nice to think about cool waterfalls about now with 95F+ temperatures this week here. I'm looking forward to the falls in Fall: |

I was hiking in Vietnam and passed through this shrimp and banana farm on a beautiful clear day. Taken with a K-50, Pentax 21mm lens, no enhancement.

Sepia Sunset Silhouette by Arle Images, on Flickr
I thought I would try something different with a sunset-whilst the train is the focus, the clouds and sun-rays add interest

Amazing landscapes during our hiking holiday in Iceland! I love the strange colour combinations from the volcanic stones and the very green grass on top of it.

 Full version: M81 & M82 by pete_xl, auf Flickr
The galaxies M81 (right) and M82 (left) are the most prominent members of the M81 galaxy group. They are located about 12 million lightyears away from us in the constellation Ursa Major. The spiral galaxy M 81 is called "Bode's Galaxy" and it contains a supermassive black hole in its center. Gravitational interactions between the members of the group have stripped away hydrogengas from the galaxies that lead to the formation of new stars and to the reddish so called "star burst" in M82.
The image was stacked from 70 subs of 180s exposure and ISO 1600.
The K3ii sensor is phantastic for astroimages in my eyes. Besides its low noise level and high dynamic range it has an excellent susceptibility for the red emisions of hydrogen gas in the near infrared that makes up a good portion of the light the amateur astroimagers try to catch.

Loch Fada and the Old Man of Storr at sunrise, taken on an exceptionally still morning during one of the Workshops I led on the Isle of Skye in Scotland last spring. Leica SL, Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters.

Recent heavy rains in the Kansas City area had this stream and waterfall in the Parkville Nature Sanctuary running at a much higher rate than typical. As a result there was a mist from the waterfall which had a beautiful golden glow as the rays from the rising sun filtered through. |

This winter in Death Valley I was lucky to get two (!) rainstorms in a few days. When it rains on some of the driest landscapes on Earth, the landscape change in ways unimaginable when you see it dry: here you can see Cottonball Marsh turned into a spectacular lake at sunset. Leica SL (Typ 601) and Voigtlander 15mm. Thanks for viewing, best regards
