well, I doubt ill do much outside, vs just in a low lite room at night, dawn.

I guess the real issue Is I don't have much to test with and if i buy something right now it really has to be useful.

so what are standard lights for indoors shooting? I have done a lots of searching and I Saw a few posts on 3 point lighting, but again that looks more for photography not so much video..

another question is i wont be shooting in one place too long, like maybe going on room to another, do you have to have lights set up all around the house ? or just cut, move lights and re-shoot?

Am looking to try out a few short film ideas, but ill be shooting in pretty low light. am looking at lighting kits such as

which are good for studio photography, how would they work in low light outdoors? or in a low light house? woods area?

any suggestions or input would be great! as am looking to shop around soon and I want to get the best thing to try out thats not expensive.

note , am also looking into something like this (with the lights if needed)

PLease help me with settings for a shoot!

thanks for all the replies so far. am not trying to copy anyone, am not trying to do something like a pro fully knowing I cannot, am just trying to figure out how to do it, or atleast make sure am on the right road.

The reason I have to ask and not have months and years to refine what am doing Is I set up shoots that well. I really want to do, I just don't want to waste this chance to work with these people.
but am still reading and trying to understand everything on this post so far.. a little bit of it is french to me, let me ask this,
I always follow the meter making sure that my settings have it so that its in the middle, I figured I couldent go wrong. but I did not know much about the histogram, Is there some other mode or setting I should try that might help me learn as am going?

Yeah itll be outside, am trying to shoot early to avoid the direct sun, but am sure ill find some shaded areas.
I live In Texas....so the heat/sun here is out of control.
but more then most likely yeah...in some harsh sun
prolly be a building/ downtown, around town look. most of the shots where done in the shade. but sometimes theres something cool you cant move..
I think the bigger problem is I cannot really check how the photos came out till the shoots over...so Its hard to just switch around settings without knowing if i liked the results

@enoeske I am just tired of coming to forums asking for help and people just get smart with you, I know buying a nice cam wont give you good pictures, the only reason am asking for help now Is cause my friend wants to do a shoot monday and I dont have time to learn all the settings i may need within that time limit so am asking for people to give me some settings to try , thats It, I learn by doing but not over night. and am pressed for time.

Yeah I really want to relearn this properly. so I was trying to stick to only M
I used the lens kit for those shots,
some reason I cannot open the raw files In any other program other then Pentax utility , but thats another issue for another day.
I guess I want the colors to look deeper, I tried a few settings to let more light in but It made it too washed out.

1) can It be set to stay on at all times? (like a light bulb)
2) am assuming Its safe for the Pentax K-x hot shoe....right?

thanks again to everyone who has read this and helped!

Thank you all for all your help, the reason I ask Is cause am trying to order some gear and I want to get everything I need at once.

I think Ill stick with the 460 as my first as its much cheaper and for my use should be fine, but I do have one last question:

If its triggered by the flash, why do you need the wireless things to put It on? or Is that what reacts to the pentax's flash?

Well I guess It depends on what kind of flash Ill buy, am sure Ill get the
560 or the 460ii

Not sure which, they both support the Pentax's optical thingy right? making a wireless sender/receiver unnecessary ?

thanks a lot for the help, but honestly am very confused.
so the pentax its self will trigger the flash if its connected to a wireless shoe receiver?

I dont also need a transmitter ontop in the cams shoe?

edit:

so using "1. Pentax p-TTL wireless: The built-in flash as the master.:"

I just need a wireless transmitter for the flash? not the one on top of the cam?

well, how is it possible to use the built in flash AND an off trigger (wireless or corded) at the same time? wont the wireless thing that goes in the shoe block the pop up?

also, If I buy a flash receiver, do I need anything else? Do i need something to go In the shoe to send?
