I went ahead a purchased a SMC 80-200mm F4.5 zoom. I have been much happier with the results.
Here is a shot with it.
And this one is same lens with a Sears 2x converter. |

that first one is a bit soft, but would be worth doing till you get it just right. I'm gonna have to save up for one of those lenses....nice!

these are bold and may be breaking some rules, but they kind of work.
weird...I was using a globe in a self portrait last night. sometimes you have to use yourself if you want to do experimental works.
keep going with these!

Cool bird. Would love to have one like that to practice shooting!
Good advice from others. Try some in natural light when you can!

Thanks for the info. I thought it should be sharper also as compared to others I've seen. Back to the drawing board.
Your photo of the dummy with cat blows my lens to pieces! That is one sharp lens.

Trying to get the focus as crisp as possible. Never liked the DA 18-55 lens that came with it. Way too soft for most stuff. Can't afford a nice auto-zoom for now.
I am also trying to learn the finer points of manual assist focus.
How would you rate the quality of this lens? Sears 135mm f2.8 |

Very nice shots..# 1 is my favorite. ISO 1600 and that lens does well on that camera.

Impressive lens...I have the Sears version. The black works well with that set up.
What was the light source?

I like the way it leans on the box, but it seems it (whole composition) should be moved a tiny bit to the right. The photo seems unbalanced as is.
Overall, good photo and presentation, but I am not an expert.

Nice action shot! I know you need fast equipment for these shots, so I am out of the running. Love good sports photos.

Thanks for the comments. I see it is off a bit. Will try to shoot another when conditions are good. I learn from each one.
