More beautiful shots, Richard. Nothing wrong with those two lenses. They were the ones that I started with on my K10D journey. I have a few more now. :D

Hi David,
These swans are currently on a private lake within our retirement village. When the cygnets mature and are able to fly they will probably relocate to Tuggerah Lake which is just over 5kms from here and has a large black swan community.
I doubt that any of those swans have ID collars.

I didn't know that the *ist D had a replaceable settings battery. Thanks for that info, Paul. There definitely is no mention in the manual of such a battery on the K10D. If it were there, I would have found it because I have looked for it.
Both of the ancient Canon DSLRs I own have that feature and I am a bit disappointed that Pentax did not carry on with it past the *ist D. I also have a Pentax X90 bridge camera which also forgets the date when the battery is removed.

It is much easier to replace a button battery than to rely on an inaccessible capacitor which may or may not fail.

Thanks for that. I had no idea that there was a technical term for it. I must ask our gardeners if they are aware of that. :)

Yes, I agree that the tree looked peculiar. That was because our gardeners decided to cut the trees back aggressively. Here are before and after images. K10D and SMC Pentax-DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6.

Don't worry. They will grow back again.

Paul.

Please, please desist with that sort of talk. This thread is not a competition.
Nobody is trying to "beat" anyone else. We are just here to show our appreciation for the images that our K10Ds can produce. Every image posted here has equal value. We comment on images that have impact but we are not competing.
We are all winners because we own a K10D.

That's a great song, Racer, but he wasn't singing it. He was just laughing at me. And nothing beats a good kookaburra laugh. Nothing!!
I knew that he was close because he was so loud. Then he calmly posed for me. It doesn't get much better than that.

Thanks, Des.

Hey, I'm no geologist either! :) To me those sandstone formations just look like they were molten. I should have added a smiley to my original post. I have seen the results of molten lava in Hawaii and what is what I imagined molten rock would look like.

So here are a few more:

This is the Bouddi Coastal Walk in the Bouddi National Park on the Central Coast. It must have been very, very hot the day this was created in order to make these rocks into a flowing molten mess.
I hope that I didn't post too many images. I had so many to choose from. Would you like to see more?

My Tribute to Dartmoor Dave

By now I hope that everyone has read the message on the forum masthead from Adam and the PF Team. It is about the bullying and nasty behaviour which has occured on parts of the forum. A bright light has now been shone on that behaviour and action is being taken.

I did not see any of that behaviour but one sensitive and caring person did and he decided to take a stand against it. That person was Dartmoor Dave. At his own personal cost he decided to depart from the forum. He did not want to go but that was his way of making a statement. That also meant that he would no longer be part of this club where he was always amongst friends who valued his contribution but a total departure was the only way to bring the matter to the attention of the forum moderators.
We now know that has happened and I assume that there is a lot going on behind the scenes. I feel that nothing short of what Dave did would have achieved the desired outcome.

We owe a great debt of gratitude to Dartmoor Dave for doing what he did to expose the inexcusable bullying that he saw being directed to those who did not deserve it. I doubt that I would have done what he did.
Let us hope that Adam and the moderators are able to resolve these issues so that we end up with a much friendlier forum for everybody. Maybe in the fullness of time when all this has settled down Dave might feel like he can return.

In the meantime, thank you Dave for the way that you cared enough for others to do what you did. You have made a difference.

BTW, these are just my thoughts about this situation after thinking about it for a long time.
