But compared to a Fuji GX680 the RB and RZ are small light cameras. Compared to the RZ my 500 c/m is light which is heavy compared to my Rolleichord which is heavier than my MZ7 which is much larger and heavier than my A110.

My regret in not buying a Pentax medium format was a few years before the 645D came out thete was a 645 with 3 lenses for $600 CDN for sale that I didn't even look at.

The guy who lent me that lens also told me that I should just use a wide angle lens so I also took a shot at 10mm on my Kr however he could not see the bear. Think he was hinting that I should just get in close and be bear food. Yes I've gotten just as close up shots with a 70-200 of bears in Waterton or Banff.

When I visited Yellowstone Grand Teton a decade ago I borrowedca D200 and a Nikkor 400 mm 2.8. Not a hiking combo but came in handy the one time shooting a Grizzly . I stood in a group of photographers who compared to me had large lenses. Renting might be the best option. In my case I took the 400 2.8 because it was a less expensive lens then the other offered , in the event of loss or damage.

28mm M 2.8 not focusing

I've had this 28mm M 2.8 lens for over 5 years. I went to use it on my MX the other day and I could not focus it. The focusing ring turns nicely but is like it has a close focus filter on it.

There is a little lever near the mount that I dont know what it's for but it doesn't seem to be in the correct position nor can I move it.

Any help? Photo to follow

Diana F vs Holga

I prefer the Holga over the Diana F +. For the Diana you can also get a glass lens and lenses of other focal lenghts. Don expect sharp images from either, if you want sharp crisp images you are missing the point of them. If you can get a look at the Holga book from Michael Kenna you will see that even a top notch film photographer does not get sharp images from them

8f you want the top camera style images I think the Holga are priced lower. Holga also has a glass lens m9del the 120 GN however I have no experience with it. My wife and I love shooting with Holga and Dianas ( and pinholes ) but for g99d images my Role chord and Hasselblad are vastly superior.

Rolleichord, Rolleiflex T, Yashica flex and maybe a Mamiya c2 or 220 are best starting camera as long as you factor a CLA into the price.

Other than several large format cameras which all take lenses on lens boards my only non Pentax system is my Hasselblad manual focus system.

In Pentax have digital, AF and manual focus film systems and the Auto110.

I remember when I only knew outdoor temperatures in Celsius and indoor only in Fahrenheit. I have never had a thermostat in Celcius.

Driving in miles and buying fuel in liters in Scotland was simply weird.

No I will keep my K5iis and not purchase the new model. Reason is that I am shooting more medium and large format film and less digital. That and the K5iis is still a great camera. And should still have lots of life left in it.

My newest Pentax camera is a MX I bought on the makers place I think my 1980s Hasselblad gear as gone up since Ibought I a decade or so ago. I can not think of a. Single Pentax product that I am even interested in buying, maybe a M150 or the GPS system.

I only care that pentax continues to make hood and I teresting products and stay viable .

Abstract Some Zone Plate images on a K5iis

Actually f65 as that is the one aperture speed for the zone plate lens. If you are unaware of zone plates use Google. The lens is mounted into a Pentax lens cap and I use 45mm focal lens for the shake reduction.

The Journey from 'Chimping'

When I had a MZ5N and a K-r my problem was adjusting the shutter speeds in the K-r with the shutter dial which was really the mode dial. Lots of lower shutter speeds ended up being movies instead.

Most of my film work is MF or LF hence little thought about chimping. Have done it on the MZ though. My wife who hardly shoots film has her screen set for no instant display so no problems when she does shoot film. I wished there was a way to chimp my K1000 as my eyes are getting too old for the viewfinder

For the few times I use it I am willing to be led astray.

I also have a wonderful trio of lens, a 60mm Distagon, 100 Planar and 150 Sonar for my Hasselblad.

Just finished rereading this thread as it is very interesting. Besides my Sigma 70-200 that I don't always take with me and the two cheapie zooms 18-50 and 50-200 for convenience when casual shooting my set of lenses is the 15-21-40-70 SMC Limited and can see no reason to think about changing, adding to or uograding. The 70 is my favourite on both my K5iis and my MZ7, simply love the 15 however have not used the two newer ones the 21 and the 40. I use a small compact camera bag, one I bought for a trip with a borrowed X100 that will hold 2 of the lenses, a couple cards and a spare battery and I hardly feel it when walking about. Certainly cannot do that with 3 star lenses.

The problem for Pentax is that I am more than satisfied with the DA Limiteds. If I do need a macro my wife has a Tamron 90mm so perhaps that is cheating. These compact lenses even feel like the little jewels that they are. And all use 49mm filters too. My only complaint is that I had lost the lens cap for the 70 and took out a loan to but a replacement cap. 😀
