Adaptist PK+MM installation and usage

Certainly an interesting experiment potentially very, very bad for GAS...

I wonder if it would work on a K-1?

It was a fine idea that I suspect was killed off by the success of mirrorless cameras. Indeed, it begs the question - could a multi-mount adapter for mirrorless be produced in this way? It could be even more useful as it would be technically possible to produce one that allowed small adjustments in length to provide infinity focus for all mounts.

My latest is a large Paterson tank that'll take five rolls of 135 or three of 120, which is helping me get through my serious B&W developing backlog. Last week I developed eleven rolls in one day, which must be a personal best, though it was only three batches. I'm mixing and matching films that have similar development times and hope to get through some more next week. Up until now I've bought and shot rolls of B&W in pairs to fill the two-reel tanks that I've had. Now I'll have to do it in groups of five to maximise efficiency.

I'm not sure how the K3 would render the greens but I'm very happy with the Fujifilm's - it's spot on.

As for the rest, it's very much a typical girl-meets-boy story.

These two were taken on the same walk and nicely complement each other. Two streets directly opposite each other which both curve up the same way.

From the shape of the out-of-focus highlights I don't think this was quite wide open.

I took the 18mm f/2 on a short walk in Madrid yesterday and found an old abandoned property.

I have a hankering to try a Fujica SLR but every one I come across is either faulty in some way or has a very dirty viewfinder. How is the 55/2.2? It seems to be the most common Fujica lens and as far as I'm aware it doesn't get great reviews.

Is it normal for needing 50-135 lens repaired twice?

Auto focus repairs to SDM lenses are well known to be short-lived. I hear there's a version 2 of the 16-55mm coming out some time soon but the whole DA* range of lenses is well overdue a re-design, more than anything to fix the AF problems.

While some have had no problems with these lenses, many people have. I just avoid them, which is a shame because there are some I'd really like to have.

Pentax said in video it would use new gen apsc sensor

I really hope that they don't use a sensor anywhere close to 43MP. That's far too much resolution for the vast majority of applications and will take up too much space and take too long to process.

I imagine that the new APS-C camera will have one of the newer 26MP sensors which don't perform any better than the older 24MP ones except in readout speed.

The forum does not allow separate posts in the same thread within a certain timeframe, so two posts made quickly one after the other are merged into one.

You can use the multi-quote button at the bottom right of each post to select various posts to reply to within one single post and it'll look a lot neater. You'll need to look for the breaks between them to add any comments.

Damn. I very recently missed out on one of these for a not-dissimilar price, the only time I've ever seen one for sale at a price that isn't crazy. Apparently the same optics as my M version but still, it would have been nice. That's a beautiful copy.

I find that with a normal-ish focal length macro lens you can find a photo to take wherever you are.

Alternatively, with a lens that's fast enough and sharp enough wide open, I can just get some satisfying but ultimately unremarkable shallow depth of field shots.

I need to get one of those 50mm f/1.7 macro lenses that Pepperberry Farm has so that I can combine both options.

I had the M 200/4 and sold it as the colour fringing wide open was too much for me. I have very little use for a manual 200mm lens but a few years later I happened upon the K series version for very little money so bought it. As is typical comparing M to K, the K is bigger, heavier and harder to find, but optically it's significantly better than the M and very useable wide open. If you like the focal length and are looking for something with superior optics then I'd recommend a change to the K.

Which version of the 28/2.8 will you be using in August - v1 or v2?

I was intrigued too, because I'd never heard of it and it's rare enough that it doesn't yet appear in the third party lens reviews section. I've got some info together and need to request it be added. So for €25 I decided to give it a go, though when it arrived I almost sent it straight back as it has some detritus inside, not sure if it's dust or small spots of fungus. I've given it a go on the K3 and it's not the sharpest lens, even stopped down to f/8, though the centre is considerably sharper than the borders (on APS-C). Colours and contrast are nice enough, it's just lacking in resolution. Still, I bought it mostly for use on my film cameras where sharpness is less important than on digital so I'm not going to let my initial results put me off. It's very well built (especially for a third party AF lens from the film days), a convenient focal range on film and not too slow at the tele end.

I have a few sample shots on the K3 in my Flickr, though haven't created an album for it as I'm not certain it'll be sticking around.

Why you donít really want a hybrid viewfinder

The added bulk and cost is reason enough not to want such a viewfinder. It would be a solution that fits (very nearly almost) nobody.

When I saw that photo my first thought was that there should be some sort of out-of-focus ghoul crouched towards the back of the scene.

I do need to do some more research but I have the Fuji 23/2 (which is excellent) so got that focal length covered, even if it's a stop slower. I'll wait for the 56mm and will research thoroughly before buying, but I have high hopes. As for the Fringer, it costs as much as a good lens, which makes it quite hard to justify, and still makes no claim regarding the older EF mount Sigma and Tamron lenses I have, so not worth it for me at present.
