Thank you, PB.
I'll stick around but my, already fairly poor, interaction won't be any better than normal for sure.

Been taking some shots before bed to keep my hand in and push myself but it's been difficult time-wise lately. I became an uncle for the first time a week ago today and my better half lost her nan, and with her the last of her grandparents, on Friday, so it's been emotionally mixed of late.
Should be able to sort through a few photos and upload some later and hopefully get a few comments in for the last couple of days.

Some more fruit now?

(Also apologies, I misinterpreted the above as 'dinner' rather than 'something 3-sided' - I'll just roll with my pizza ticking the appropriate boxes!)

Although I've found zero time to upload my photos for the SIC so far, I'm actually going with the SMC-M 35mm f/2.8. Using the Takumar 35mm f/3.5 really opened my eyes to the world of semi-wide lenses such as these.

Roundup for the SMC-M 85mm f/2.

A fairly substantial change in focal length from the Takumar 35mm f/3.5 that I sported in June, so took some getting used to, especially the relatively long MFD (again, versus the 35mm...).
However, it definitely didn't take long to get used to. This example is a good one. I bought it for 50 as it had a 'foggy' rear element. I took a punt that it wasn't balsam separation and it paid off, a little acetone, isopropanol and naphtha later and it came up beautifully clear. Now, I did get a little dust in the lens carrying out that treatment, but the dust isn't so terrible that it unduly effects the working of the lens. I'll be sure to take it apart again at some point and give that dust a clean out but I digress.
A good example will focus smoothly and stop down confidently. It's easy to find your focus slightly stopped down but it has a mighty thin DoF wide-open, so can be a little tricky without focusing aids (such as Live-view, an EVF or similar).
It does produce CA. Mostly, this isn't a huge issue as it's bright purple, easy to spot, usually the only purple thing in your frame and subsequently easy to deal with, but it can give CA in spades if you're shooting busy scenes. For B&W shots, however, it's a dream. Minimal effort and you get solid, contrasty photos with oodles of character. Wide-open is a little soft and sometimes marginally glowy but it's jam-packed with character - perfect then for portraits.
My only real gripe with this lens is the, of it's era, hexagonal bokeh. Again, it's a minor gripe, but with a number of my lenses donning 6 aperture blades, it'd be nice to have an 85mm that brings a different bokeh to the table, stopped-down. I'd like something that gives me some roundness through the apertures without costing the world.

Onto the photos:

f/2 is more than fast enough for modern cameras and their high-ISO capabilities. It gives a lovely, round, soft bokeh, thin depth of field but no harsh drop-off.

A lovely lens and one I'm pleased to have amongst my arsenal. It's a good focal length once you're used to it but takes some getting used to shooting indoors, having to focus a lot with your feet until you're comfortable with the MFD.

Edit: Oh, one other thing. It works just fine with extension tubes! In fact, for some shots, the extension tubes suited it perfectly. No real degradation to the image quality from what I saw with a 21mm tube, typically, and gives some extra breadth to its capabilities

Sorry to the OP to interject on their sales thread but look into the 'sticky mirror latch' issues - they're commonplace for this camera and it's quite fixable for the right person.

Managed to give it a little 'shiver' of blur by accident, so isn't tack-sharp. However, it works for me.

Posted up until the 26th.
Should have an image in the wings for the 27th, and will take one for the 28th later before posting those two.
Need to get better at commenting - sigh. Even responding to comments right now is coming across more difficult than it should be.

Nice one - I didn't realise the Konica Hexanon lenses came in M42, I just assume that they're Konica AR mount.
I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a 40mm f/1.8 after letting one slip through my fingers for little money...

On an aside, you'll love the Tak 135/3.5. I got one of my favourite pictures of Mabel out of an SMC variant of the 135mm f/3.5.

I think I’ll be in, but will decide on what lens closer to the end of the month.
I’ve the M50/1.4 staring at me, a new-to-me M35/2.8, a Takumar 135/3.5...

That sounds a wonderful acquisition and the ability to continue the legacy with that camera and those lenses adds a special touch. Well done.

A new-to-me Chinon 50mm f/1.4.
I thought I had enough 50mm's (I don't have THAT many in reality), turns out I was wrong and this has only fuelled my obsession.

Bang on - a la my knife + chopping board shot last month with the Tak 35/3.5, it was something that I use every day, not particularly amazing lighting and is one of the best shots I've taken. Being forced out of your comfort zone and attempting to adapt is where the learning happens!

Have posted up until yesterday - need to do a LOT of commenting, probably later.

W412ren - don't worry too much about the desperate shots, this is where I feel I've improved (personal opinion). In forcing yourself to take those desperate shots it can help you squeeze a little something out of an otherwise boring shot. I'm sure your work is great as always!

Squeed, try nudging the aperture lever on the reverse of the lens when it's off the camera and set on something other than wide-open (f/4).
You should be able to see the aperture open and close there.

Edit: you might want to ignore me. There's too much blood in my caffeine system. Should be the other way around, should be stopped down and open up when you nudge the lever.

And I've just upgraded from a little, manual hatchback to an automatic Skoda Octavia Estate.
A huge improvement in comfort and size.

I came here to say just that! Looks a nice little one.
I've had to trial a few stoves for work and for the price, the Fire Maple 'X2' is a good little kit. Very reminiscent of the Jetboils with a decently large cup (that can hold the canister), stand, plus the burner unit has a piezo so can get it started without the need for matches/flint. Surprised me how nicely it's made.
For $20 though yours is a steal, Matt.
