Spiegelfeflexkamera is more than enought. Germans mostly like things as simple as possible, but in some cases it might get complicated.

Finding stuff. How lucky are you?

I am ussualy really carefull with my thing. I store my lens caps in my pants pockets, like Steve. But about a year ago, i lost one 49mm Pentax lens cap from an F 50 1.4 lens. Fast forward to second to last month, when, while browsing a local flea market i stumbled upon the same lens cap, diameter and all, for 2€. It was sold before any attempt at negiciations. Only deal made that day, but it was a good one.

To be fair, i almost walked out of quite a few cafes/bars/restaurants leaving the entire bag/backpack filled with gear under the table. Fortunately my wife always reminds me, without making too much fun.

Do you own both cameras and speak iut of experience? I think you might be mistaking about K3 vs KP autofocus*. It is not necessarily faster, but it locks on without micro adjustments and hesitation. Fast paced photography is not my sryle so i cannot judge tracking performance, but minor performance improvement are probable.

* i am also certain that AF is also subject to variation, so not all cameras of the same model are equal

Why A BIG Camera When The Latest Smart Phones Are So Capable?

These are from a local brewery (Frankfurt, Germany), and they are made in really low numbers, nost probably not found in stores outside this region (i have seen them in only one liquor store outside their once a month open brewery).

If ever in the are, i would gladly take you on a photo/beer tasting tour.

For me it would be product photography. I started a project that that involves a lot of it. With a phone i could never get straight lines, and a nice perspective.

Currently i use a Pentax KP with the 35 macro and pixel shift, and i can say i am really pleased. I use a cheap light box, an the results are really nice, lots of detail, perfect colors and also SHARP

edit: and some proof (soc jpg - small)

I have received an e-mai from a nice Pentax shop in germany that they offer 10% discount with the code: pen10.

The offer the Pentax D FA* 50 for 999€ as a dmo model (i believe they are new because i bought a KP demo with shutter count 0). With the 10% discount it should be 900€. They have a nice selection of demo lenses, and i think a good deal can be made.

And also a link:

Offer is only available today

A far better lens would be a 200/5.6. You should (if you have not already) seen how small the 200/5.6 Takumar is. Also the images it produces are outstanding.

Thank you both for the feedback. Indeed it is good news for weather sealing and saves time while putting the camera away (i always zoom and focus so that the lens is smallest possible). All i can do now is wait for a discount or sell some stuff.

This might be a stupid question, but is the lens an IF lens (like the 50-135) or does it extend while zooming/focusing. I am watchind this lens closely as i am a lens or two (sale) away from ordering one, and i am at the moment undecided (more because of the price than anything else).

(Un)popular Opinion: Pentax AF Doesn't Suck

It is really important to mention that the lens you have chosen has a minimal focus distance of 40cm (15.8 inches), so it cannot focus at 12 inches no matter how good the af system in.

Also, lenses wide angle lenses have a greater DOF as normal/tele lenses, so it is not really a fair comparison.
(i do not own any of the cameras you compared, so cannot comment which is faster/preciser, just about your somewhat questionable choices)

Dont want to hijack the thread (and its sort of on point), but could you recommend a few books on composition? I am certain it is worth more than a couple of new lenses to improve my photos.

11-18 and revamped 35mm F2 on january 31?

What if their plan is to release 2 products each month; a premium product paired with a consumer/budget product? They might have postponed a few releases to be able to do that.

If you think about it, it is not that far fetched, the rumours are (and roadmaped): 2 teleconverters, 6 new FF lenses, and possibly a few new bodies. Add a few revamped lenses like the 35/2 (i'm looking at you DA*'s) and the numbers all add up.

I agree with you, it would be useless to release a screw driven lens, but at the same time, i am hoping that you are wrong, and it is in fact DC or SDM motor driven (although i am not interested at the moment in a 35mm lens)

I do not know who told you that but i do not agree. The KP fells exactly as solid as the K3, but is a bit softer on the hands. It may not look so, but once you pick it up, you know it is.

Also the small grip wheights exactly 17.5 grams, and that to me looks liks and feels like nothing.
