AF Assist/Modelling Light Strategy

Eddy, I don't know about modeling light levels adjustment on AD200Pro, but AD400Pro has capability to adjust from 20 to 100 percent. In case I shoot in darker environment, I use modeling light to adjust position of strobe as well as to autofocus assist. Yes, LED at max power drains battery of the strobe quite quickly, one time I shot with modeling light almost always on, so, just about 2 hours long before battery was empty. But it could be possible to use lower levels of modeling light. I hope AD200Pro can do that as well. Any way, if you use modeling light extensively, buy second battery for your AD200Pro. BTW, I did order power block for my AD400Pro because I use modeling light quite extensively during photoshooting. In this case I need electrical cable as well, but this is not problem when I shoot in "studio".

Your camera has horizontal shutter. It seems to me that sliding window during shooting process could be slowed down for a very short time. It causes some underexposure (darker lines as well as a little darker part of the frame). This is only my opinion.

And you can use Face detection autofocus in case you shoot people. The face and two eyes should be visible to get yellow rectangle on it. Camera focuses right on the face/eyes. Actually it is eye autofocus.

Look at Godox flash compatible with Godox X-Pro P trigger. You will be able to trigger more flashes in case you will move to more advanced photography.

K-1 shutter stuck

I experienced the same problem. Here is the info you maybe can try if your shutter is still not repaired.

„Sometimes a power interruption can jog the shutter open if its stuck, so what you will do is:
1. Set your camera to manual
2. Turn off any features that might drain the battery (image stabilization, flash, LCD view ...etc)
3. Set your shutter to the slowest speed possible (15-30 seconds)
4. Take a picture
5. Open the battery door during the exposure and then close it right up (I removed battery and pushed it inside again). The momentarily power interruption during exposure time might be able to jog your shutter open.
6. Repeat until your shutter un-jams.
I tried this trick and it helped from the first attempt. Yahoo!!!

Manual focus lens front focusing results on only one of your bodies?
Posted By Medex

If you did focus in the center of an image (globe), then your lens BACK focuses, because things in focus are behind the prominent part of the globe.
I use manual focus projection lenses adapted to Pentax mount on K-1. They all have some back or front focus. But let say, Revuenon 55/1.2 focuses perfectly without any fine focus adjustment. So, in your case I would do some test on tripod, because focus zone is so narrow at f1.2 that any not perceptible movement of your body can influence the result.
Mount your camera on tripod, do manual focusing through the OVF until you get focus confirmation (Green hexagon in the view finder), then check your focus in the Live View mode with magnification to decide you have right or wrong focus, front or back focus. Repeat the test several times to see if the misfocus have the same tendency and make Fine focus adjustment (Apply All - for manual focus lenses), but keep information about that somewhere on you lens (sticker ar similar), because it is applicable to this lens only.

try to use your lens 100/2,8 in non-A setting, e.g. at f4. In case you have aperture block failure, pictures will still be good, not dark, because aperture will not go beyond f4

---------- Post added 10-09-19 at 03:39 PM ----------

BTW if you have aperture block repaired earlier, the failure can repeat because solenoid that was replaced can be the same bad quality as first one.

Ok, I did read article on wikipedia (Understanding HyperSync and High Speed Sync - PocketWizard Wiki) and another about hypersync (Hypersync easily explained by Fabio Gloor - Part 2 - broncolor News) and now I have impression that author of second article misused hypersync term with HSS.
What is the real difference between these two methods and why you want hypersync instead oh HSS?

Let say I shor 10 frames and rewinded the film to the canister, then removed it. After some time I insert the same canister into the camera. What should I do to forward the film to 11th frame?

Pentax K5-IIs outperforms Sony A9 in max PDR, even other parameters are lower. :) APS-C vs. FF. What it means? Maybe that K-5IIs ar low ISO is equal to Sony's flagship model for photographic dynamic range? According to curve, that is true for ISO80 (Pentax) vs ISO 100 (Sony). But things are opposite at higher ISOs.

IMO back button focusing do nothing better than shutter button focusing. You can programm your shutter button for release-priority focusing (then push the button and camera will shoot just after the focus is accuired), but back button does not work in such priority.
Anyway, backh button focusing is very good thing when you shoot static or almost static objects/subjecs - in this case you don't need to re-focus after every shot.

Do you accept the fact that shake reduction does not work with electtonic shutter and there is flickering when shooting indoors in artificidl light? You can't shoot in series, HDR, etc.

I can't speak for sure about UV photogtaphy, but Klaus Schmit can. He is in that field and as I remember he uses special lenses (quartz), because ordinary multicoated lenses block UV.

Yes. I agree. But with full spectrum camera you have obligation to use external filters. Some wide angle lenses as 15-30 and Samyang 14mm do not accept round filters. 100 mm or 150mm infrared ones will cost more than gold. Ant with external filters you cant focus through the optical viewfinder what is less convenient.
Here systemic cameras with electronic viewfinder win.

I completely agree. Special products should be abailable to customers as well.
Now we have KolariVision, LifePixel etc. that do conversion of many cameras, but there are some difficulties with Pentax brand. Not long time ago even Kolarivision did not provide conversion service of Pentax APSC models. Maybe due to relative rarity of pentaxians who would like to shoot infrared. But in reality there are no problems to make conversion even at home. I did it 3 times.
I would like to have dedicated IR K-1, but even Kolarivision does not provide this service for relatively big price. They can do full spectrum conversion only. It is pitty.
