Embarking on an experiment (K3 II vs. GR III)

Also shooting the KP + 21 as a way of staving off GRIII desire. It's worked so far. But I do have the advantage of having the GR I when I really want something small.

I find in the middle of summer sweaty fingers and hands can mean sweaty sticky film. Your dark bag can turn into a sauna before you get gangrene from lack of circulation.

Why persist in using legacy manual lenses

Pentax HD FA 50mm 1.4 $1,500AUD.
Pentax A50 1.4 $150.00AUD.
Even if I had the money would the HD be a ten times better lens? For some maybe. But not for my purposes.

Struggling with lightweight 2 body 3 lens travel kit

Because of the Woodstock 50th anniversary stories I've been re-watching this Santana clip.
Check out from 4:34. The photographer looks like he's wearing 4 or 5 bodies. Now that would be a great travel combo.

Copying to computer - pop the card or USB?

Always done by card. Don't know where my USB cable is unless it's what I use for charging eg the GR.
But I have occasionally left the card in the reader and gone out trying to shoot with no memory.

These people tend to get overlooked. They usually keep a range of Pentax gear in the showroom which is becoming a rarity. They should be supported.

He's more a publicist than a photographer. It could be seen as clickbait to sell more camera straps and street photography courses.

Look at is as being part of a cunning plan.

I'm old and I've seen the Nick Ut photo hundreds of times including when it was first published which was when I was just a little kid. And now this is the first time I've seen it pixelated. What's happening to us? The paradox is now everything is apparently sexualised and at the same time we need to be protected from it. Once upon a time we were treated as adults.

I never thought I'd end up taking photos of brick wall. But here we are. Look at the left side. Is there something wrong with my DA 18-135 or is it a not so great copy and within spec?
Thank you

The most astonishing thing about this story is you saw it on the shelf at $1000 AU and had to think about it overnight. AND it was still there the next day.

Here's some interesting stats:
22+ Instagram Statistics That Matter to Marketers in 2019
1 billion people use Instagram every month. ...
88% of users are outside the U.S. ...
71% of Instagram users around the globe are under the age of 35. ...
72% of U.S. teens use Instagram. ...

We tend to complain that Pentax doesn't do marketing. Social media is the best kind of marketing there is.
If I take a photo of the Sydney Opera House and post it on Instagram with the tag #sydneyoperahouse anyone who is interested in that tag might see my photo but also see the three Pentax tags including the one which identifies which camera I took it with and then may even follow those links. And so it goes.

Can't go past the Ricoh 28mm F2.8 Rikenon XR. But avoid the later P version which isn't totally compatible with the Pentax K mount.

I didn't expect this but I love my K1 most for its ability to do candid family snaps where the shallow depth of field separates the subject in a way which can give you a professional look. And whether it's glary outside light or dim inside there's no drama. It's one of those examples where equipment does make a difference. You can't beat the laws of physics. And these photos are with the A 50 1.4. So you don't need to spend a fortune on lenses. At $500-600 yes it's definitely worth trying. And a daughter growing up? She's worth it.

K-1 size and weight question

What makes the biggest difference is the lens you attach to it. I've been using the DA40 Ltd and the A 50 1.4 and it's hardly a beast at all. But when I put on a zoom like the D FA 28-105 then I start to feel I'm carrying around a big camera.
