This photograph makes me very touched, because awaked my memories of similar places where I've been and which I still love. It is a pity that I am not able to come back before they disappear - this is as elusive as a childhood memory of Christmass ... Such fragile old things of the past will be replaced by modernity.

Microphone with K-5

>>>The K-5 manual offers the following specs recommended for an external mic: operating voltage of 2.0V or lower, and an impedance of 2200 ohms. Do I need to match these specs to a mic or not? <<<
In my opinion there is no problem. Ready microphones, that can be connected to any recording device, they have their own power supply. I have done two DIY attempts. First: I used a very old microphones without any case, each of the three leads. Second: I used microphones removed from the 20-year old Hi-8 camcorder Sony, also with three terminals each. Both sets worked with K-5 well, K-5 gives enough power.
Later I hooked up Hi-8 camera microphones to a 9V battery and to K-5 through the capacitor and resistor. They work very well, but… Mounted on the K-5, mics pick up the noise generated by the CMOS sensor stabilizer. In a silent place such a noise can be heard with the naked ears. Image stabilizer is driven by pulses. I think it is not possible to entirely disable the drive. I noticed that when the Shake Reduction is OFF and Horizon Correction is OFF, the CMOS sensor stabilizer is still under control. I think stabilizer is fighting gravity to ensure proper CMOS position relative to the central axis of the lens. The control can still be heard as muttering and stomping, but unfortunately it also records ... Microphone holder must be soft and well insulated from the camera body.
I am not fully satisfied: when I play video recorded with K-5 and external stereo mics, I hear additional ticking of regular pulses coming probably from the K-5 electronics, I do not understand what is going on. I will come back to my DIY inventions later, during summer.

DIY: K5 remote controller

I made some distance tests. Results:
Outdoor - sun light is a problem - sometimes it works sometimes it does not, completely.
Indoor - it looks very narrow cone beam is emitted by UR89 Universal Controller
hard to stab with a sensor in the camera, it's easier from the back than the front
max distance of about 4 meters
convenient solution when shooting macro, indoor, from a short distance

ON / OFF, albo A-B albo TV / VCR.

2. klawisz TV, kod 065; migawka jest wyzwalana przez nacisniecie klawisza Power ON / OFF.

Probowalem naciskac inne klawisze i przez chwile zareagowal autofocus, ale to bylo przypadkowe, prawdopodobnie koincydencja sygnalu z pilota i swiatla lampy oswietlajacej pokoj.

DIY: K5 remote controller

Hello!
Incidentally, I discovered that Vivanco UR89 Universal Controller works with my K5 camera. It is cheap, in Poland the price is about 5 Euro (network of shops RTV EURO AGD).

There are two possibilities:

1. UR89 Universal Controller, after programming the VGA key with code 071, triggers the shutter by pressing the key Power ON / OFF or AB or TV / VCR.

2. UR89 Universal Controller, after programming the TV key with code 065, triggers the shutter by pressing the key Power ON / OFF.

I tried pressing various keys on the remote under TV key-mode and I get the effect of autofocus. But it was accidental, I could not repeat this phenomenon - may be because of coincidence of the remote control signal with the lighting of the lamps illuminating the room?

:)

K-5, cwiczenia z mikrofonami - ciag dalszy.
Pozdrowienia,
Andrzej

Witaj i_trax,
dzieki za odpowiedzi na obu forach,
sprobuje kiedys zamiescic na DIY forum moje Pentax'owe pomysly i ciekawsze fotki.
Co do mikrofonu, to stara kamera, z ktorej go wyciagnalem, rzeczywiscie ma taki filtr, ale on pozostal w kamerze. Musze chyba popracowac nad dopasowaniem impedancji mikrofonow wzgledem wejscia w K-5, podlaczenie dziala, ale zrobilem je szybko, nieco prowizorycznie.
