Flickr is going back to limited free accounts

I'm an amateur photographer. I make no money shooting and publishing photographs.

I have 25,384 photos in 134 albums on Flickr (using 7.6% of 1TB). I put them there exclusively for sharing, not as a backup (although that did come in handy once).
I don't know if they consider me to be one of their abusive free users.

I'm thinking of getting a "Pro" account to at least buy me a year to figure out what I'm going to do. The first-year discount makes this a bit more palatable.

I'm not worried so much about recovering the photos as I am about re-creating the way I have them organized on Flickr.

I'm not sure if it's worth the effort to try and reproduce the albums, cover shots, and annotations on a new site.

And I'll be shooting thousands of more pictures this winter. The path of least resistance to me for now is to go "Pro", until they grossly alter those accounts.

Spend money on glass before you spend money on a new body. I bought a Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 lens a year ago, and it was the best $600+ I've spent in quite a while. It works well with my K5. I shoot tennis matches indoors and out and f2.8 max aperture throughout the focal-length range really helps, especially with crappy light indoors.

Are you really satisfied with your new K-5?

So, I gather, then, that it's safe to use an AF-280T on a K-5. No issues with voltages or current levels frying K-5 circuits?

Okay, newbie here.

I'd like to participate, but I'm evidently not allowed to post to the April 1st thread. Do I have to state my intentions here first and receive permission?

Thanks.

(I'm planning on using my just-purchased K5 (and maybe my K10D as well) with an SMC Pentax-A 1:1.4 50mm lens.)

Memory Card Size Limit

Yeah. I checked the firmware update as well, and came to the same conclusion.

The camera seems to work fine with higher capacity cards after formatting them as 1GB cards. It's getting hard to find 1GB cards nowadays. I may have to reformat bigger ones.

Thanks.

Memory Card Size Limit

Hello.

I own an Optio S4i. I've had it for a few years now. I can't find any information on what the maximum capacity of memory card the camera can accommodate.

It appears to be 1GB. If I put a 2GB card in it and format it, it appears as a 1GB card (I can check in another camera, and it shows up as a 1GB volume on my computer).

If I format it in another camera as a 2GB card, the S4i indicates double the (approximate) amount of pictures available, but as I reach about the half-way point of that estimate, the camera reports a memory card error.

So, either the model has a (not well-documented) 1GB limit, or my camera has a problem.

Does anybody know what the limit is?

Thanks.

Stupid Question re Lens Hoods

On my PH-RBA 52mm hood which came with my 18-55DA lens there's a small removable section of the hood, clearly embossed with ribbing, an arrow and the word "OPEN".

What's that for?

Thanks.
