Yes, SOONER than later please!

I don't care about more MP... but we WILL need a new sensor, if only for better read-out speeds to enhance over-all camera performance. I'll take whatever the latest greatest FF sensor that is in similar or slightly more MP they have that Pentax will work their magic on without sacrificing DR. Love Pentax RAW's!!!

The main improvement for me is A/F and over all speed of handling. And for crying out loud, I could care less about max FPS if it means filling the buffer in one short burst. I'd rather be able to lean on the shutter and have it just take pics until the memory card is full without stopping and crashing, even if that's not near the top competitors FPS speed. Or at least have a menu option to switch it to that mode, Max FPS mode vs/continuous shooting mode. Yeah, that'll work. Other than that, keep the current form factor and just build the thing already!

Heh, rant over.

Heh, too funny, I was going to say someone hasn't wound that clock in a loooong time, but then I noted there were no key hole in the face of that clock (Sessions?) so it must be a later electric model? Heh.
Cool pic BTW!

Thanks! Every dog has a different personality. Before my Dolce', there was Ariel... she was a Diva, but a good, sweet dog. Dolce' is a cuddle bunny, and a real stinker with a sense of humor. She actually plays jokes on us!!! And she is shameless, when you get right up in her face, nose to nose, she just looks you right in the eyes like, yeah, so? She might even try and sneak a lick at your nose just for laughs. Ariel would always turn away when I tried to get close like that. They really are individuals and trying to catch some of those traits in a pic is so hard but fun.

Ditto on Rio!!! I always enjoy seeing shots of that beautiful shiny coat too. I think my FA* inherits most of its qualities from your A*...
Thanks,
Eric

Another small set of Dolce' trying different locations and natural light with the FA*85

Definately hard to keep the focus on the eyes with a tiny dog's face, especially when there is a nose sticking out to catch the AF attention, heh.

I think it looks like a magnificent creature!

I wouldn't normally volunteer this, but since you asked... The picture you took of it looks like the white balance of a setting sun? Some people would have you try and correct that, but I like the tone as it is.

The sweet spot on that lens seems to be F7.1 for me, F8.0 MIGHT be a tiny fraction of a hair better, but it also might just be helping cover focus issues for me. I've never really tried F11 (unless it was middle of a sunny day) like you have for BIF near sunset before, but I'm thinking it's a little over kill, and you could get some IQ back with F7.1 and lower ISO or faster shutter or a little of both, but even if you hadn't asked, there is not a lot to complain about this shot, it's a nice catch, probably faithful to what you actually saw with your bare eyes.

Thanks for sharing!
Eric

Finally, someone grabs a fish, and I missed the dive! This guy was way out, the opposite side of the inlet and this is cropped to smithereens.
Times like this I really envy the people who can just go order something like the GMaster 200-600mm and go play... but I'm not even sure the extra 150mm would have helped all that much at this distance.

I guess it depends on the types of events you attend. I'm in the other camp and have used the overhead approach for situations going way back to the film days, where I would hold my Rollie 2.8C over my head upside down, looking up into the ground glass to the get the shot nobody else could get with their 35mm SLR because they had to wing it and hope they hit the target holding it over head without seeing, while I could not only hit the target, but could focus too. Winning! Heh heh. Nowadays you can just do it with a flippy screen. Oddly enough, I find the most use for the flippy screen doing macro these days, it saves the knees! ;)

It's all good, just get the shot!

Dunno why, but this pic pulls a few of my strings. I guess it's the pose, it reminds me of a few things, several things really like rower crewing down the river I used to live on like an angel bowing before God with his wings out front like an Olympic swimmer doing a breast stroke I dunno, there is some connection there on the tip of my brain. Something that humanizes this Osprey and his struggle to get airborne and the extreme reach out of his wings, head bowed down, all wet after his dive, yet still showing a certain grace, dignity and power. Oh well, youd probably have figured it out sooner or later, but yeah, now you know... Im not normal, LOL.

I dont know who hes calling, but it sure was loud. Funny how sometimes the larger birds make the higher pitched call's you might expect from a smaller bird.
