File Numbering and Deleted New Shots

One thing I love about my K5IIs is that if you want it, you can delete a new shot, and not have the file numbering skip that number. I've tried that on my K3, and can't get it to do the same thing.

I can't lower the ISO all the way

I have a K5IIs, and the ISO will not go any lower than 160. It will go up to 512K, but not down to 80 or even 100.

Okay, figured it out. "High Correction" prevents the use of the lower ISO settings. I thought I would try it out a few days ago.

It looked like the typical Alkaline leak, with the white powder on the battery.

Fungus on Prime

I was looking at a Zeiss 50mm 1.4 lens today, and wonder if it is worth the low price. It's a bit beat up, with some nicks on the body, and a few small scratches on the glass. It also has a little fungus on the front, around the rim. Being a prime, it must be easy to take apart a clean, but will the cleaning remove the fungus?

I just noticed a that a pair of AAA batteries leaked. They were in an iPod transmitter, and were of different brands. Up till now, I thought that rechargeables didn't leak.

A bit, but I think the meter was smaller, and there was a thin rod going from the dial to the meter display.

I was zooming around a swap meet, and saw something new- a really old Pentax. It looked like a SLR, but the top had a complicated dial apparatus. Turning a dial at the side of the top turned a measurement dial where the viewfinder would be. I would have taken a picture of it, but I didn't have my phone with me.

I put a ZX-5 focusing screen into a D1

I bought an untested Nikon D1 recently, and noticed that it was missing the focusing screen. I was about to throw out a ZX-5 and thought I'd see if I could get the screen out and if it would fit and work. It seems to work and fit. The next thing I need to do is to power it up. It didn't come with a charger.

I saw this white umbrella at a thrift shop. It looked like a small, white diffusion umbrella, but it had a small hook handle on it.

Yeah, that SP 17mm is pretty good, surprisingly so. I've been using it a lot when I meet with friends; I usually just set the focus to 5' and start shooting. I need to add a review to the database. Recently, within a few days of each other, I picked up a Contax 50mm 1.4 C/Y mount ($5), and a FD Vivitar 19mm 3.8 ($10)

Just got a PC35AF

I got a PC35AF today. Maybe I wasn't looking before, but this is the first time I ever saw one. It's like the Olympus XA (?), and the Canon MC, a small P&S with a sliding lens cover and a manual ASA selector. I've seen quite a few of the various models of the Olympus camera, and only once did I see the Canon (I bought it). I read a review on-line that said the lens is great, but the rest is a little rough. I wish it were easier to get film processed. Oh, I've got to clean corrosion off one of the springs. I think I read that the PC35af is the first P&S with auto-focus.

Wireless Flash signal - Optical?

Thanks!
I RTFM, but I had the great 50mm f/1.7 A on the camera, and maybe that's a dumb lens, so that's why only "A" and "M" were available.

I tried out a 360FGZ with my K5IIs and wondered if it's triggered optically. If so, what are the channels for?

I just bought a Tamron 28-105mm F/4-5.6 IF 79D (Nikon)
Frequently on the near side of the focus, the motor will keep turning the lens although the focus can get no closer. This results in the lens/body connection slipping, and making a rapid clunk, clunk, clunk sound. This happens on different bodies.

Shutter failing, over exposing during high speed bursts on K5IIs in Manual

I was taking shots of cars at an SCCA event, and thought I'd try the burst mode. The shutter was sticking/over exposing many more than one frame during short bursts of 5 shots. Is this caused by over-heating, a shutter that is getting old, or something else?

Ukelele bag for body & long lens.

Yesterday I bought a bag that I later learned was for a Ukelele. I thought initially that it might be big enough for my 200-500 Adaptall SP, but tonight I tried it out, and it's just big enough for the body too. The zipper just barely made it around the end of the lens. Also, I put a hole in the lens' cap to allow air to escape when taking it off and removing it.

Power Zoom Effects

I've notice that one or two other companies also had "power zoom" type lenses, but I've only seen one of each (Canon and Minolta?) compared to about 5 of the short zoom that Pentax has (counting the one that I own). All other copies of the Pentax lens have had the zoom switch broken.

Has anyone used the special effects available from a Power Zoom lens and a body to match? I've been reading the manual of the ZP1, but haven't tried it out yet.

I just bought a M42 SMC 85-210 f4.5
It's in minty condition, and has the diopter. The case looks bad though. I would have passed on it, but the reviews here were good, and the price was too - $20
I'm going to take it out for a test drive.

My Recent Good Fortune

Goodwill here in the San Diego area used to be "hit & miss". Now though, it's almost always a "miss" for cameras and lenses. All of that gets put on their web site now. My biggest score ever was at a Goodwill, but that was in early 2011. I bought 20 SB28s ($20 each), and 4 70-210mm "D" Nikkors ($40 each), maybe a couple of N90s too.

I recently got a few great deals, and wanted to crow about it.
I got an Adaptall SP 17mm in great condition with the case, but no lens hood at a Swap Meet for $12. This was perfect because it was the 2nd version, and I already had the lens hood. I bought the lens hood at a thrift a couple of years ago, and have been looking at the lens on Ebay ever since. I sometimes wondered if I should just sell the hood.

A few days before this, on the same, day I bought a Pentax Z-1p from one thrift shop for $20. Then at a different thrift shop, I bought a kit for $40. It was a manual focus body with a 50mm, and an extra lens. The extra lens was the Pentax A 135mm 2.8!
