It seems my issue is different. That said, your photos seem to confirm that this lens has some quality to it. Also, it helps me with the location of various parts. Thank you!

Tele-Vivitar - 500mm - Focus to Infinity?

Now, I think I may be confused about the "t-mount." When I remove all adapters from the lens, all that is left is a bare (non-threaded) ring. Perhaps what's on there IS a thread adapter of another sort? I need to see if I can remove the ring...

Tele-Vivitar - 500mm - Focus to Infinity?

I purchased the attached cannon of a lens, the Tele-Vivitar 500mm 6.3 recently, used. Came with a hood, a metal lens cap, a gigantic case, and an old (non-Pentax) t-adapter. I removed the T-adapter and put my own on. However, I went to try a photo of the moon last night, and cannot quite get it to focus to infinity. The focus mechanism seems to "slip" when focusing, but with a bit of upward pressure, it grabs and the mechanism moves. However, it stops just short of infinity. I'm wondering if it's the adapter I'm using, as there's a small gap between the base of the t-ring and the base of the adapter.

Thoughts?

I got this one recently: Vivitar 1:6.3 Telephoto f=500mm Lens - shopgoodwill.com for $40, with shipping. It's in good shape, and came with a hood, a metal cap, and a gigantic case. One of those things I've been wanting to use for experimenting with astrophotography.

Question for Sim (Racing? Driving?) Gamers - Wheel?

I am looking for a wheel with pedals (feedback nice, but not entirely necessary) to use on console or desktop to use as a basic driving trainer on XBox One or Steam. New is fine, as is used.

The top companies I see are Thrustmaster, Logitech, and Fanatec. Are there others which I should consider? DOYO? PXN? Microsoft? Hori? Intel? Mad Catz? Interact?

IN terms of models I've seen which seem well-rated:

Logitech G29, G27, MOMO, G920,
Thrustmaster T300, TMX, T150, Ferrari 458, TX-RW, T80

Thanks for any help / suggestions!

TT560 and Manual Use

Thank you for the advice!

So, there are small, round, PC sync cable jacks. Can they connect to a sync device of some sort? Is such a thing even necessary? I ask because, while these are triggered by an on-camera flash, many of the videos I'm watching recommend NOT having light from the front of the camera, particularly when taking "Rembrandt" type photos.

Thank you. I shall avoid it!

TT560 and Manual Use

All,

I feel rather silly, but I'm having difficulty getting my TT560 (Neewer TT560 Manual Flash 10003635 B&H Photo Video) to activate when I'm using it on manual mode. I have set it to "master" and turned on all the flash settings on my camera. No dice.

I got this recently - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-studio-flash-kit/8441755.p?skuId=8441755 - and on "auto" mode, the flash flashes, the strobes go off, and everything is massively overexposed (even with both flashes turned down to minimal). I'd like to set it to manual so I can adjust my ISO, etc. But when I set it to manual, the shoe flash never fires.

I've read the Pentax manual, but no dice. I recently got an AF-330FTZ, which I may try soon, but I'm still researching voltages.

Thanks for any guidance!

Thank you! I have a diffuser for my TT506 flash, as it came with the flash. Do you mean a diffuser for my K-3's internal / built-in flash?

I would also need a tripod, and potentially one of these - Amazon.com : Godox S-type Bracket Bowens Mount Holder for Speedlite Flash Snoot Softbox Beauty Dish Reflector Umbrella : Camera & Photo - to hold a flash, no?

I got it for $45 (including shipping).

Is this an example of a softbox - https://www.adorama.com/fpsb12363.html, or do you mean one with specific grids, like this: https://www.adorama.com/pogrd1236.html?adlclid=ADL-3d37426b-1563-...f-e666a9d88a70 ?

All,

I picked up one of these used - Insignia - Studio Flash Kit - which should arrive this week. It says that it has built-in sensors. It appears that what I do is plug these in to a power strip, then they fire as slaves to my internal or hot-shoe flash.

These are the only two strobes / umbrella sets I will have. In addition, I have a Neweer TT560 flash for my hotshoe. Any recommendations for layout? I plan to install some sort of backdrop, perhaps a homemade shower-curtain style.

I enjoy looking through the Goodwill auction site, not only for decent deals on lenses, etc., but for the curious and odd bits of photography arcana that show up there.

For instance: the Quickshot X3000 - Quickshot X3000 Camera - shopgoodwill.com

This was a "toy camera," by "Roniflex," that apparently will take photos. See, e.g., The Cheap Camera with the Expensive Name – Quickshot X3000 and Camera: Quickshot X3000 Lomography. More info here: robnunnphoto.com - Posts / Home - Roniflex Plastic Toy 35mm Film Camera Video*Review

A more serious camera, the Nikon S2 Rangefinger - Vintage Nikon S2 Rangefinder 35mm Film Camera - shopgoodwill.com.

Apparently, this was a very popular Nikon camera of the 1950s - Photoethnography.com - Classic Cameras - hence, bringing higher prices even in a dented / warped and etched condition.

And then, of course, closer to the Quickshot end of things is the "Panoramic" camera, with flash: Panoramic Camera w/Flash - shopgoodwill.com, and its cousins, the B&G, the Meikei, and the Mikona - Lot Of 3 Assorted Film Cameras - shopgoodwill.com

On the Meikei, see here: Meikai 4353 SSN ? Plastic Piece of Crap? Lomography

Enjoy!

Kalimar 80-200. f/4.5-5.6, actually the Tokina?

I purchased a Kalimar 80-200 4.5 - 5.6 as part of a bundle. I don't see any reviews for a Kalimar at this length (P/K A mount). However, it very closely resembles the Tokina SZ-X 80-200 845 (Tokina SZ-X... 80-200 f1:4.5-5.6 Lens Reviews - Tokina Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database). I have attached some photos. Thoughts?

Do you have any suggestions for studio umbrellas / lighting? I've seen some good reviews on here for Hobo, but I'm new to this.

All,

I have a couple extra tripods that are pretty solid, and would be usable inside as secondary and tertiary tripods to my normal AltaPro. Are there adapters which I could attach to these other tripods which would enable me to use them as stands for reflectors / umbrellas / slave flashes? Thank you!

Tele-Lentar 400mm 6.3 - Aperture Blade Issue
Posted By jawats

The blades were (note verb tense) an enclosed unit. As I was attempting to re-insert the "popped" blade, I managed to bend two others. Therefore, I just removed all of the blades in a satisfactory needle-nose operation, leaving the lens wide-open. I am re-assembling it successfully now. Not a rock, but definitely not a scalpel operation. Oh, well. When I have clear skies, i will test the wide-open lens and see how it does. :)

Right. No rocks, yet. Keeping them in reserve. :)

I'll go to!

I'll try - the screws are brass, which are annoying, as they tend to strip quite easily. I may have to deploy some sort of reverser at some point.

Tele-Lentar 400mm 6.3 - Aperture Blade Issue

All,

I purchased an inexpensive Tele-Lentar 400mm 6.3, and realized that one of the aperture blades has worked loose. I've disassembled it to a point (as seen in the photos), but am not sure where to go next. Remove the screws holding the aperture blades in place and hope it doesn't separate (it looks like a self-contained unit, but looks are deceiving)? Take it outside and hit it with a rock until it appears entirely fixed or entirely broken? Sell it on eBay?

Anyone with experience or thoughts?

I purchased three Spiratone extension tubes for use on my K-3. Here are some SOOC images from a few shots with the 20mm tube and a Promaster Spectrum7 28mm, f/2.8.

All taken at f/5.6, ISO 200, 1/200 - 1/500s shutter speed.
