Misc Horse Warning

Apparently the artist dedicated the warning to Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Corban, Janice Joplin and Jim Morrison who all died very young from some form of drug overdoses. Their names are on the horse's front leg. All great wasted talented people.

I think I found this in Glasgow or Inverness. Anyway it's a good warning to substance abusers.

K 50 Underexposure

My K 50 with 18-135 ,my primary lens, seems to underexpose by 1/3 stop. I have been relying on bracketing (1/3ev) and use the exposure button and rear wheel to start bracketing at 0. I'v been doing this for the last 2000+ shots and normally save the one taken at +1/3. I have the K 50 setup with all the recommended settings from this site. I habitually use Program mode, center weight metering and auto ISO.

Is there any Menu setting that I am overlooking that will set the normal exposure at +1/3?

Germany Trip - Thoughts on Lens Combo?

Another vote for the 18-135. I also just returned from a Rhine River cruise early this month plus 3 days in Basel,SW and used the 18-135 exclusively, took over 3000 photos. It would have been nice to have something a little wider. Also took a 55-300 but never used it.

Travel Nuclear Playground

This is a shot of an 8 Billion dollar nuclear reactor plant east of Kalkar, Germany never activated and turned into amusement park.Taken at night, hand held and from a moving cruise boat. By the time I saw it, ran to my cabin to get my camera I didn't have much time to think about exposure or composition(should have thought about bracketing a least). Anyway I thought it was an interesting sight.

Camera bag for rides on horseback

I would think, but have no experience with it, that theLowpro Inverse would be uncomfortable to wear while in the saddle. It would interfere with the cantle and your natural position in the saddle. It would either be pushed up or force you to sit forward. Only my opinion, but I do have 25+ years experience on horseback in the mountains.

If you are going to be "busting brush" you will definitely want a bag you can shift to your back in order to protect your camera. If not, consider the smallest usable top loader and rap the carrying strap around the saddle horn and use a strap to anchor the bag to the saddle breast collar ring or saddle cinch ring in order to stabilize the bag. I would carry extra lens in a lens case in the saddle bags.

You also might consider the Lowpro Nova 140. I use it to carry my K-50 with 18-135, 55-300, small rocket blower, cleaning accessories, spare batteries and cpl's.

I just made the jump to digital SLR from film and digital P&S about 8 months ago. I got the k50 and 18-138 and have been 100% satisfied. For the semi-serious photographer I can't imagine a better entry level kit.

Had a Cannon A1100 P&S with vedio capabilities for 5 years and never used it, had my K50 for about 8 months and never used it. I have enough problems trying to master still photography!!!

Just got my 55-300 and was lucky to see this falcon sitting on an irrigation wheel line in a field next door.. I know this is probably considered a snap shot at best, but I'm a 72 year old newby to DSLR's. I wasn't expecting him to take flight even though I was walking toward him.

Eneloop Battery Question

I purchased 8 eneloop AA's back in October and December(4 each time). I needed to use some of them today and a weard thing happened. The ones that I had left in the Sanyo charger(in camera bag) were depleted but the ones in my AA adaptor for my K50 were not. Could the charger actually have depleted the batteries.

Do I need a 1.4x tc

Thanks for all the input. I thought the tc would be a waste of time and money. Maybe I'll put the money towards a wider angle zoom.
