I purchased a Sigma 20-40mm 2.8 about 4 years ago, cost me around $300 AU. This is tack sharp and a great portrait lens on my K-3, will be an awesome UWA on a FF unit!

I don't usually post in the forums here, just a bit of a lurker, but after seeing all these awesome pics I just had to share my first couple of weeks with this camera!

Had the K3 for a couple of weeks, upgraded from K20d although will be keeping it, and after a few test runs this week I thought I'd share a few. All were taken on a DA 12-24, and was really testing noise, slow shutter performance and star shots and what an upgrade from the K20d!

Thanks all for the kind words.

There was a lot happening in the shoot - the light was changing by the second, the random fisherman moving around a bit, and the swell had a few random sets to watch out for, and temp of around ~3 deg C so it was a little challenging :)

Number 1 is the pick of the shots

Number 2 has some blending issues in the clouds namely (note clouds just off horizon slightly to left - looks wierd).

2 and 3, and pic with updated sig all have sensor dust issues - u should clean these up before you start printing these :)

Is the K20d still worth buying?

It's still a great camera. Worth buying now? - I don't know. For the price of a K5 or a K20D I'd probably buy a K5, now anyway, not upon release though.

Personally owning the K20D since release I've never really wanted to upgrade to the K5 - just not that much of a justifiable cost over improvement imo. Shooting landscapes - alot in low light, the K20D is fine.

Waiting for the next gen Pentax announcement myself over the k5 (when that finally comes) to upgrade the K20D, and the k20d will make a great back up :)

Abstract Lightning of Western Australia

Thanks for eveyones comments!

The best thing about this sytem that came through it was moving slowly, with little rain ahead of it which made it possible I think.

Was probably my best photography moment to date, namely getting 20 odd lighting shots but some of the lightning was landing fairly close. Was definately a rush :)
