So, it's not every k-1 that will do that under that exact same shooting condition ?

Do you think it worth the effort to send it for repair ?

Hello there,

I've taken a multiple exposure star trail some days ago (60*30s shot @800 iso, RAW, average merge with in camera intervalometer), and i'm seeing lots of colored dots (white if i disable the default color noise reduction under LR),

I'm wondering if my unit is affected by the problem ?

please check the file here (100% crop, pushed +2EV in post, no other settings applied) https://www.flickr.com/gp/97751163@N03/87zU61

by the way i've done the top bar test and i see no problem.

Thx in advance.

I will keep it, af seems to be really acurate and maybe just a little slower, and as you say, if there really is a problem, i'll see later.

I really like the color this lens is producing :)

Thanks for you help.

Got the unit swapped and the new one is perfect optically.

But it give me the impression of hunting more focus and to be slower to focus. And it also does make a little "click" noise when focusing.

Thanks for your help anyway

I've done more tests (images here)

To me it doesn't look bad this time, no problem @24mm ,@50mm, and @70mm it just seems to be bad when subject is close.

What do you think ?

Should be better for the permissions.

The morning test done with a building 30 meters away does not confirm the decentering. I have to test further.
Do you think the first test is a false positive because of the too short distance?

First test does not reassure me but I was very close 1,5 meter to test target and it was against my computer screen. Will redo it tomorrow, natural light with distant target

By the way here is the result of the first test : test 1

It shows some decentering to me. What do you think?

Hello everyone, I'm a recent owner of this lense. Wondering if your unit shows some play in the zoom ring. No problem to zoom in or out. But say you set the zoom at 50mm. Then you touch the zoom ring and try to move it up and down or to turn it but with no intention to change the focal length, just to check if there is some play. Do you notice it ? Or it is just my unit?

Thanks for your advice, I'll try to follow the guide you gave me in the next few weeks.

By the way, if one of you own this lense or have tested it, I'm wondering if you have notice that the zoom ring is kinda loose. Even more when fully zoomed at 70mm.
If you imprint some small up/down or right/left movements, the ring is a bit loose (some play).

Did you experience the same thing or it's just mine? Is it normal?

Hello,

Just received a brand new dfa 24-70 (most expensive lense ever for me).

I was testing against my computer screen for af accuracy (with target like this one https://www.appliedimage.com/images/AVIgoa/700w/QA71%20-%20final%20rev%202.jpg)

At some point i was taking live view picture for sharpness references and to be able to compare with pdaf focused images.
And that's when i have noticed that the right part of the picture was less sharp than the left part @70mm f2.8 (tripod, sr off, 2s timer, ES ON)

After further investigations, i have been able to obtain even-like (not sure it was perfect , but way better than with contrast af) sharpness using manual focus.

Can the lense be decentered ? Or can the live view af (contrast detection) fail ? (by the way, i tested with other lenses, and i didn't reproduce this behavior, but maybe the alignement was better with the targer)

Thanks in advance for your answers.

When i'm looking at this photo, I can't stop thinking it could have been taken onto another planet. Rendering is a bit sci-fi to me :)
