It's not a small percentage either. I have dozens of blurry shots of gators and wildlife. Not even one keeper until these. I still have to re-try my DFA 70-200 without a filter to test my theory, but I'm convinced that the filters are causing this. All B+W too. Some of my shots were once in a lifetime.

Either Amazon, B&H or Adorama. You may be right. They were expensive as I was trying to avoid this type of issue. I can't rule out operator error, but I don't think it was all me. Was just wondering if anyone else ran into this problem. Thought maybe the combination was an issue.

I'm just so happy I finally got some decent shots. I really like the K1.

That's where I'm headed too. I thought it was probably me, but it didn't seem to matter how fast the shutter speed was, they were all blurry with the filters. Can you even purchase PL filters anymore? All my larger (77mm) filters are CP...

I bought a K1 a couple years ago and then a DFA 70-200 to take photos of my son playing football. Never really got great shots, but made do. Thought it might be the lens, so I picked up a DA*300 recently. Both use high end B+W polarizer and protection filters (not at the same time). I was about to give up on Pentax when I decided to go without a filter. What a difference. I like the look of a polarizer, but I think they may be causing problems on my lenses.

I've taken dozens of photos with the 200 with polarizer, and quite a few with the new 300, but until I took the polarizer off I didn't get a decent photo.

Has anyone else had this problem, specifically with B+W? I realize polarizers cut a little light, but pretty much ALL my photos with polarizers are blurry. Nearly all without are clear.

Before and After polarizer photos attached...

I've done that before, long time ago, how do we test the voltage?

Thanks...

I've been using this occasionally on my K1 and K5iis. Then I wondered if it is safe. I bought this at a local store years ago that has gone the way of many businesses lately. I've done a lot of research to find the voltage used at the terminals but found nothing. Does anyone know whether or not this is safe with newer DSLR's?

No problems with the cameras so far, and it's a decent flash. I don't know enough to say whether i'ts great or not, but it seems to do the job when I need a flash for macro or portrait snapshots.

Thanks,

Bill

I've been having a lot of trouble getting decent focus on my K1/DFA 70-200 combo. I go in the back yard and use my mutt as a model, and most of the time I manually focus on a spot on the ground and snap the shot as she passes it. It's hit and miss.

I'm reading all the suggestions and appreciate them. Many reiterate my point. Some of you are champions of a certain lens, but in the next post someone says there's a better solution. See what I mean?

If it matters I'll let everyone know what I get...

Thanks again...

Remember during the old days (film) how easy it was? You only had to decide what max aperture you you wanted to pay for.

I like this better. More choices...

The DA*55 is intriguing, but it's not made for FF. Works on FF but I don't want to buy and find out a week later they came out with a FF version.

I'm leaning that way, but as you say, there is an issue, however minor that makes the 50 2.8 a compromise. Weather sealing. For the DA* 55 it's the 'DA'. For the 28-105 it's the min aperture. For the FA43 it's the screw drive...

I know it seems I'm too picky, but I really like the k1, as well as the k5iis so I want to pair the k1 with the (near) perfect normal lens. I travel with the k5iis with the 16-50 attached. Took me a while to find the right bag as well as the bag to keep them in.

I don't WANT to spend a lot, but since my wife won't let me get a motorcycle, and I'ts getting more difficult to stand up on a surfboard at my age, and I'm terrible at fishing, I don't mind spending what I need to on a good lens. I bought the 16-50, 50-135 and Tamron 90 used, but the FA31 and 70-200 new. I don't mind used, but the coatings on some of the new lenses supposedly help with some of the mistakes I make when trying to take photo's...

Sorry, forgot about that one. Been looking at it also.

I kind of prefer manual focus lenses as that is how I started, and by the time the in camera focus motor finds it's target, and I like what I see through the VF I could've already manually dialed it in. However, a good AF lens is great to have for quick shots.

I find the 31 a little too wide for most of my shots (kids, dog, airplanes, etc.) and the 90 too tele.

Plus, I'm experiencing a LBA relapse... Is there a medicine for this?

Hi,
Yes it's a stupid title. I want a 50 mm lens, but can't get past all the reviews and opinions here...

Every time I make up my mind, I read something that stops me from purchasing.

I've thought about the 28-105, the DA*55 and the 50 2.8 macro. I have the FA31 and DFA 70-200, as well as the Tamron 90. I've got a few Tak's and the 16-50 and 50-135 for my k5iis, but would like a normal for my k1.

Sorry for the 'helpless' tone, but would just like some advice..

Thanks,

Bill

Thanks guys. I'm trying to join the 21st century and use the cloud, but like email, I have old accounts I can't even access any more, so I was waiting for the cloud to settle into something I would be able to keep, like gmail. I'm more comfortable using optical, but all I have right now is the ability burn 4.7 gb at a time. I'm guessing most have upgraded to blue ray by now, right? Would I be able to keep that system (blue ray) for say the next 10 years? If so, what is a good drive to get, and will it work with Win10, and what type of discs do I use?

I built a decent computer a couple years ago, and always backed up my photos to DVD. Since I bought the K1 I have my photos on two hard drives, but I'm out of touch as to the best way to store a hard copy of my images. Any suggestions? I can buy a blu ray writer and get those discs if that's how people are saving their images now, but wanted to get an idea from here before I proceed.

Thanks,

Bill

Here's a couple I took with my 50-135 before I got the 70-200. The original is cropped slightly because I straightened it and it took a little off the edges when I did that. I was sitting on the 40 yard line about 25 feet up in the stands when I took it. My son is #63 in the white jersey. I focused on him initially. At 1/250 seconds there is a little motion blur. I've got others at higher shutter speeds that are cleaner. Very little vignetting at 135 mm (shot in FF mode). I did run this through Topaz DN6.

That's what I normally do. I know some have their jpeg settings adjusted to give them a nice 'shareable' output, which is a great idea and what I'm starting to strive for. I save jpegs to 1 card & RAW to the other, which seems kind of a waste because I never use the jpegs. I realize this is a different subject but what do you do with all your jpegs?

It was the clarity. Had it at +1. I think it only affects the jpegs which I never really use... I wanted to see if I could get a decent jpeg so I recently set a few parameters to experiment.

Every photo I take has a processing delay. Regardless of lens or setting I can't take more than 1 photo for several seconds. I've checked everything I can think of. I mostly use a DFA 70-200, FA 31 or M50 F1.7. I have 2 SanDisk 64 gb Extreme cards (95 mb/s) that are about half full. Bald Eagle flew in the yard earlier and I wanted to take several shots but the delay stopped me.

Do the SD cards cause this delay?

Thanks

Thanks for the info Erictator... I'll try the yardstick thing. Only problem is focusing from a long distance on a small target. Don't know what I'm hitting with the large center spot box in k1.
