P.S. - Everyone's sentiments (public & PMs),, by the way, have been greatly appreciated, & a little overwelming (in a good way, for sure), to be honest.
It was beyond my intentions or expectations that my predicament would elicit such responses, as I had nitially mentioned it only in passing while responding to a "Lens Wanted" post, prior to my first lens posting.

Item for Sale
Losing Sight, Losing Lenses..... Part 2

Asking Price
Various

Item Location
Brooklyn, New York (United States)

Item Description
Last lens remnants, mostly from my "analog days". All (except the couple where noted) have been/are stored in LowePro, Adorama Slinger, or Domke padded zippered lens cases, which will be included with sale. All, of course, come with front/rear caps. All are in beautiful cosmetic/optical/operational condition (some very light paint loss on some metal high points here & there is about the extent of the cosmetic "problems"), especially for 1/2 century old lenses. Butter smooth, glitchless focusing rings with just the right amount of damping, as only Pentax seemed to be able to accomplish with such success..... I was very picky about my lenses:

1 - Pentax M42 Super-Multi-Coated Macro-Takumar 100mm f:4..... Pretty rare. It was the last lens designed by Pentax before going Bayonet-K, consequently it's the only lens besides the "normals" with a rubberized grip. Mint in original box (good condition) & case (exterior of the case is not in very good condition, for some reason). this lens does not come with one of the abovementioned cases, as it is/has been/will be in it's original box & lens case..... $180..... SOLD
2 - Pentax M42 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 135mm f:2.5... Rarest & most coveted 6 element Version 2..... $180..... SOLD
3 - Pentax M42 Super-Multi- Coated Takumar 105mm f:2.8..... $120..... SOLD
4 - Pentax M-42 Super-Multi-Coated Macro-Takumar 50mm f:4..... $120..... SOLD
5 - Pentax M-42 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 55mm f:1.8...... $55 - reduced to $49.99..... Excellent cosmetic/optical/operational condition, glitch-free butter smooth focusing action, lens case.
6 - Pentax M-42 Super Takumar 55mm f:1.8..... $45 - reduced to $39.99..... Excellent cosmetic/optical/operational condition, glitch-free butter smooth focusing action, lens case.
7 - Pentax DA 18-250mm Zoom..... Shipped in original box and an abovementioned case..... $425..... reduced to $389
8 - Pentax DA 35mm f:2.4 Black..... Mint (used one session) in original box & pouch..... doesn't come with one of the abovementioned lens cases..... $140..... SOLD
9 - Pentax F SMC 35-105mm Macro Zoom, Excellent w/case..... $90
..... all prices include shipping.

Wanted - Acquired: Pentax F 35-70mm

I used to have a 35-70 F. Loved it, but I rarely used it, as it was just too short to justify such a slow lens in place of a prime. Then I picked up it's slightly larger, much more useful 35-105 F & sold the 35-70. If you're interested, I have that lens & it's larger sibling, the semi-legendary 70-210 F, both SMC versions, both for sale (recent eyesight problems have necessitated lens liquidation). Lovely, film like rendering/colors on these sleepers, especially the 70-210.

Item for Sale
Losing Eyesight..... Must Also Lose Lenses

Asking Price
Various

Item Location
Brookln, New York (United States)

Item Description
These are lens purchases I've made, largely over the course of the past year, in the futile effort to stave off the inevitable realization that I'm losing my eyesight.
Consequently, many of these have seen little or no use.
1 - Pentax 18- 250 Zoom..... light use, Excellent..... $450..... REDUCED to $425
2 - Pentax 12 - 24 Zoom..... light use, Excellent..... $690..... REDUCED to $650..... SOLD
3 - Pentax 100 WR Macro..... Mint, unused..... $480..... SOLD
4 - Pentax 77 Limited..... Mint, unused..... $650..... SOLD
5 - Pentax 43 Limited..... Mint, unused..... $510..... SOLD
6 - Pentax 21 Limited..... Mint, unused..... $350..... SOLD
7 - Pentax 40 Limited..... just used for a few days worth of shooting..... $260..... SOLD
8 - Pentax 16 - 45 Zoom..... Mint, unused..... $230..... SOLD
9 - Pentax 55-300 DA-L Zoom..... Mint, unused..... $180..... SOLD

Without at this moment double-checking, most have the original boxes, caps, hoods. By unused, I mean that I removed the lenses from their boxes, tested them out on a camera, & either returned them to their original boxes or placed them in a more secure separately purchased case/pouch, in which case the pouch/case will also be included with the sale. All prices include fully insured CONUSA shipping.

Yes, in the first photo the focusing point chosen was on a plane behind the boy, in line with the fabric to his left rear. Changing the focus selector to the center position will give you more active control.

Any tips for photographing birds?

This is where Pentax's lack of brand recognition pays off for us. Most birds, in my area at least, not considering Pentax to be a "real" camera like a Canikon (from which they flee like the devil), tend to remain put when encountering a Pentaxian (the almost inevitable, ill-informrd smirks plastered across their faces can, thankfully, usually be much improved, if not eliminated, in PP).

Why isn't there an official lens hood for DA 35mm

I am presently, & have always been, owned by cats, the present configuration consisting of two longhaired Main Coons. The occasional pass under running water seems to circumvent most problems not solved with a simple blast of air/brush (the hood, not the cats).
P.S. - When not in use, I keep my equipment in dust free sealed cases.

How to use Macro function on SMC Pentax-F 35-70mm F3.5-4.5?

it doesn't just allow you to focus progressively closer in a continuous unbroken line..... the focusing parameters change, allowing you to focus within a certain set of borders. Consequently, you'll have to skip a bit of "unfocusable space" to move in closer to the area within which the lens will focus when in the Macro mode.

Prime Lens Owners - How often you use your zooms?
Posted By raymeedc
Replies: 75
To every lens there is a season.....
Between 21mm & 100mm (80% of my shooting), I use primes. At the far wide end, I use my 12-24mm..... comparable quality to the 15mm, same speed, more versatile to be able to reach a more "normal" perspective in an instant when necessary (important to me when mounting such an extreme perspective), while at the same time offering a substantially wider view. Portability in this instance, a MAJOR reason I love using primes, is unfortunately sacrificed as a result of this decision. Such being the case, if I had the extra cash, it wouldn't be too difficult to talk myself into picking up the 15 anyways.
At the telephoto end, I also use zooms. There isn't enough of a savings in weight and/or bulk to justify the loss of framing/isolation accuracy & versatility more important (IMHO) as the focal length increases (extra speed would be nice, though). The fact that Pentax offers few telephoto prime alternatives makes this choice easier.
I also take my 18-250 out if I'm going out for the day on a casual daylight walkaround or large event when I don't know quite what I'll come across &/or I'm not in the mood, &/or it's not practical to be changing lenses..... Although I might, on these occasions, stick a fast prime in my pocket, just in case.
These exceptions being noted, I always try to find a reason (not a difficult task) to use my primes first.

Pentax- F 35 - 75 mm not working on pentax K-x

This has nothing to do with the OP's lens, & will only serve to confuse him.
I have a couple of it's stablemates (F 35-105 & F 70-210), & have, as well, owned two copies of the lens you now possess. It has the typical, modern, auto mount used by other Pentax lenses, & should, consequently, operate as intended without any adjustments.

Andy Warhol's most famous film, "Sleep" (a 5 hour fun fest), anticipated your cat's creative strengths. If you could somehow get him to channel his views through photographic means, you could have something there in the form of the next abstract phenomenon. At the very least, other cats would probably enjoy the resulting photographic depictions.

Latest rumor has it that Cooper has recently shown interest in moving up to a DSLR. Naturally, he seems to have narrowed his choice down to the appropriately ultra compact Pentax KX/40mm pancake combo.
In a related sidebar, it's also been whispered in certain hallowed halls that he has been actively perusing our site for info & inspiration, even toying with the idea of joining up!

UPDATE.....
Fantastic visual/ding protection for an ultra-light/small DSLR go everywhere street shooting kit (especially with the addition of a pouched 21mm Limited slipped into a pocket, which I've discovered, to my delight, also fits [just]...., at least when mounted on a KX). Easily & quickly peels off to a partially removed photo taking position, or completely removed & crumpled up to fit into a pants or shirt pocket. Highly recommended for a particular style of shooting.
