or design an OVF camera with a sliding eyepiece that when moved to the right locks the mirror up and exposes a EVF?

I guess if you want to sell new products then you might want to court new customers? Otherwise just keep your old camera and old lens and stay in your little old bubble!

I think the KP covers this definition. The new ASP-C flagship needs to provide for demanding sports and wildlife photographers IMO. Fast AF, high fps and fast write speeds to match. 4K video would be a nice feature. Maybe not needed but useful for some and one less thing for the media critiques to complain about.

Ricoh need to invest in this anyhow. If they have plans to increase FF megapixels and to move forward from the K-1 then a leap change has to be made sooner or later. So why not bring the best out of the sensor? They can do it. I suspect the new ASP-C camera and the K-1 replacement will share similar architecture and be tailored to the strengths of the formats.

Yes. We should be able to extrapolate from this a feature set that we can reasonably expect from the new camera.

Looks like a pretty good sensor. The new flagship ASP-C camera from Pentax should be able to satisfy the demands of Pentaxians for some time to come. Could it match the fujifilm X-T3 with 4K video and 11 fps? Snappy AF and we should be happy?

Why don't they just engineer a OVF DSLR with a sliding eyepiece. Slide it to the right to lift the mirror and expose a EVF?

Thomas Shahan - YouTube

Thomas Shahan has a good site to learn macro photography. Notice the camera he is using?

After looking at your gallery and the equipment that you have, my advice to you is to keep practicing! I don't think you need to upgrade to a bigger Mp sensor. There is heaps of room for improvement just by honing your technique and researching via online tutorials. Please don't take this as an insult. Your work is good but it won't improve just by you buying a camera with a larger MP count. I would be looking at a soft flashlight setup for your macro work and perhaps the purchase a D FA 100 mm Macro lens. Maybe you could focus on Macro photography for a while?

Cheers Broo.

I would be thinking a new model ASP-C camera would be a pretty good option for you but it would be relatively expensive. If you can get a camera now that satisfies your needs then why wait?

Just FYI there is a new 70-200 mm f 4 scheduled for release later this year. Compact design and presumably cheap.
I would give the KP some serious consideration too.
I have the email news option too and didn't receive a thing.
CR Kennedy are a reasonable bunch. I would be surprised- if you explained the circumstances- that they wouldn't offer you the discount.
Good luck

Have you tried using the promo BUNNY?
You just never know unless you give it a go. Or give them a call and explain. If they are willing to give a 15 % discount over Easter then they just might give you the same discount on a K70 and a couple of lenses.
Do you really mean business?

I took this shot a few years ago using some legacy glass. I know there is room for improvement but I have posted it for others to see the qualities of old glass. There is a curious artifact in the water. I think I know what is going on but would be interested in input from the forum. Any ideas?

Yeah. Make it manual focus only with a traditional split prism and remove the rear screen (wifi to smartphone instead), give it a LX style body and viewfinder. Lots of fun with all those legacy lenses and cheap too!

Shutter shock with small primes

Absolutely. I think these observations are important part of becoming a good photographer. Devising a work around and using them when you notice shutter shock is part of the process too. Im just saying good photographers know the limitations of their equipment and work with them. Sounds like the OP is switched on. Also I would think if the OP took offence then they might say so themselves?

A moving subject in the dark and its a bit soft? The last thing I would be doing is blame my equipment!

Yes I did read the OP.
That's why I suggested adjusting the ISO and aperture for particular combinations of camera and lens. That is what good photographers do. Nothing new here. Potentially every camera/lens combination has its own harmonic frequency sour spot. A good photographer knows their equipment. The OP is correct and doing the right thing but you need to know how your individual camera lens combination works.

Shutter shock is nothing new. Best to know how your camera and lens combination is affected by the shutter speed and then work around it. I think that is what good photographers do?

Why would't you adjust the aperture and ISO in order to avoid these shutter speeds when using the lenses that are effected by shutter shock?

I take any of his claims with a grain of salt. Maybe some time in the past he was reliable?
It's Ooku or nothing for me.
Ricoh keep a pretty tight ship.
Another sign of a professional organisation.
