I've used the Amazon Basics 800mAh (I've read somewere they're probably the eneloop rebranded), the O-GPS1 stays on a lot of time but the camera doesn't recognize it...
Tried with a K-r but I've got the same problem so probably the issue is in the O-GPS1.
I've asked to the guy that sold me it and he tell me that the last time he used it, all works fine (maby one year ago). Is it possible that one year of inactivity may cause a malfunction of the rig?
If it doesn't work no problem, I can send it back. But I just want to understand if I do something wrong in the use or it's the GPS broken.
Thank you all for the help (and exuse me for my poor English)

Tried A and B, but it doesn't work...
I've tried to install the 1.15 too, but it can not "upgrade back" to a previous software...
So I can't understand where's the problem!

I don't know what else to do...

Thank's for your reply!
So what is wrong?
I connect the O-GPS1 to the camera -> both power on -> blue led (initially flashes and than it stays on)
I don't see any icon with a satellite in the info screen (red, yellow or green - NOTHING) and i can't select the following functions in the GPS menu: Electronic Compass, Astrotracer, Calibration. (they're gray, non selectable).
Pratically i can't use the O-GPS functions...

Does anyone confirm that o-gps1 doesn't work with 1.16 firmware ok a K-5 body?
I've buyed the GPS unit, but it does not work on my camera... It seems to be that there's no comunication with the body.
Is it possible that ricoh did not fix that error (1.16 was relased in 2014)
However, how can I downgrade the firmware to the 1.15? On the ricoh site I can only download the latest version of the software...
Thank's for your help.

Very nice shots, with great contrast and saturation! Did you use a polarizing filter?

I've tried to raise a bit shadow to emphasize the lighter part of the mountains and the scree, but in fact it would be better to pull them down and leave visible only the silhouette ...
Thank's for your overview Klaquax!

Here's a night shot of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, northern Dolomites, Italy.
The settings are: 18mm @f/3.5, 20 sec, ISO 4000
I kept a high exposure to see well the Milky Way, in PP (with RawTherapee) i've managed only the basic settings (white balance, exposure adjustment, color curves, contrast ...), custom white balance and noise reduction.
I think I could do better... Comments, opinions and criticisms are gladly accepted! |

For my night shots I follow the rule of the 500 in this way: 500/focal lenght/crop factor.
This is a shot taken a few nights ago @ 18mm
So: 500/18/1.5= 18secs
these are the settings I used: ISO 4000, 20 sec, f 3,5 (maybe 15 secs would have been a better choiche to avoid the little trails you can see in the bottom right)
Waiting for a wide angle lens, that would help me a lot ---------- Post added 26th Sep 2014 at 09:20 ---------- I think that there's not so much differece in using a 18 mm f 3.5 and a 50mm 1.8 lenses when photographing the stars.
Here's my calculation (I hope to get it right):
Diaphram = f/3.5 - f/1.8 = 2 stops difference
Secure TIMES
18mm = 500/18/1.5 => 18 sec
50mm = 500/50/1.5 => 7 sec
Times = 7sec - 18sec = about 1+1/3 stop difference
So 50mm (@ f/1.8 - 7 sec) is about 2/3 stop faster than 18mm (@ f/3.5 - 18 sec) for shooting stars without trails.
2/3 stop in ISO scale is the difference between ISO 3200 and 5000, and it's a significative difference!!!
However I'think that 50mm is too long for landscapes with stars but could be useful in some cases!

I own an old revue all manual 50mm lens.
A modern 50mm will be a dreamly all-round lens :o
It might be good for street and portraiture, while AF is one thing that I really miss.
For landscapes, modern SMC and construction, would be an additional plus.
This could be a prime I would use a lot! If I don’t win, I’d use my old 50mm with no regrets! :cool:

This is an incredible sunrise from mountain "Zovo" at 2000 meters altitude.
From the village where i live in a short time of walk you can reach places where nature is still pristine, the scenery is breathtaking and you can easily meet wild animals.
After a cold night, the rising of the sun warms the heart and soul. A step away from the hectic life, this is my little corner of paradise!
