If the price was extremely good, this may be the reason why. It seems not unlikely that it could have been the reason the seller was selling.

Lens question

The rational used to be that the lens coatings and the lens glass itself was different, in particular with certain lower serial numbers. Not sure exactly how true it is.

Back in the 90's I recall people still touting the MG paired with a 40mm pancake as a great take-anywhere camera, also light for hiking.

But similar to what was mentioned above, film doesn't seem to be completely out of stock in regular retail places.

Film sales have doubled for Kodak since 2015. I don't know about the other companies, but at the end of 2019/start of 2020, Kodak raised their film prices in order to finance new manufacturing equipment to meet the increased demand. In the past year, their manufacturing and supply chain was disrupted by the pandemic, and they were doing direct shipping in order to avoid delays, which increased cost, but those shipments were also delayed (though not as much). All those those led to a bit of a film shortage, so price on Ebay are much higher than if you can buy film from regular outlets.

With your larger image, it doesn't appreciably change, as far as I can tell, when I move farther back. In this case, I know what the DOF is, and can still see the OOF part when I move back.

But I'm not sure what you are getting at with the 4K display; you are saying it will make the DOF appear to be less, due to the higher resolution?

I'm not sure they were necessarily devoted to a particular brand; later on, Paul used a Nikon and I think some of the others switched brands as well.

Flange to Focal Plane for 645z

Also, at some point they reintroduced a bunch of 645 lenses to sell as new for the digital 645s. I don't think there would be any reason to change the effective flange focal distance from the 645 film distance, since one of the points of making the digital 645s the way they did was so you could use the old film lenses on it.

He's talking about having photo storage memory specifically for that purpose; some older cameras had that, plus a card slot, but no Pentax DSLRs.

You *may* be able to take one photo, and have it stay in the buffer without a card until you turn it off, but maybe not.

Edit: Actually that wouldn't work, opening the door to insert a card will turn off the camera.

Pentax auto 110 accessories and questions thereof...

I don't think it's a great idea to use the Auto 110 for astrophotography; with the size of the film grain relative to the frame, I'm not sure you would necessarily be able to really distinguish stars from grain.

In my Auto 110, I use my own reloaded films, Ektar, E100, and Cinestill 50, to get the smallest grain.

It won't rival a 35mm lens adapter, but a Soligor 1.7x teleconverter was made for the Auto 110.

Where was the sun? That can warm the camera up significantly; if it was shining directly on it on the return trip, but not outbound, that could be the difference.

Does anyone (ever) just shoot in-camera B&W JPEG?

The most straightforward benefit to doing RAW+ is that you could then get 16-bit b&w out of them, as opposed to only the 8-bit JPG.

Both are good, though you probably could get more subtle tonal variation on the leaves of the middle tree if you converted to B&W from the RAW after-the-fact.

If you buy a roll, and get it processed at Dwayne's Photo, it would only be 2/3 the price or possibly less. And there are probably other places that can do it for cheaper than $45, total.

I don't think you can do Astrotracer with external-from-phone GPS, as it wouldn't be able to do the more accurate calibration/tracking if the GPS can't give the camera's attitude?

---------- Post added 12-22-20 at 06:20 PM ----------

Isn't face-focusing available on all current Pentaxes in live-view? And If you link AE & focus point, wouldn't it do face exposure then?

The significant improvement would be if it had face-focusing when using the OVF.
