It would be an each way bet on what camera would have the most life left in it..... yours as is .... maybe with a careful sensor clean at home...... or yours mailed to the US.... opened, shutter replaced, cleaned and mailed back..... would not surprise me if yours "as is" was stil working 5 years from now..... and your "repaired" one wasn't.
Off course.... if we were talking wives.... then just get a new one.... getting them repaired doesn't seem to work in the long run either.

If trying something out ..... try looking at an ant on the ground near your feet..... and.... look at a back lit branch/etc near the edge of the field of view.... nothing compares for these things at the price point...... sadly I use them for readimg medicine bottle small print!

Every nature observer should have one or more PAPILIO 6.5x21's. After experiencing a pair you may decide you need nothing else.... except another pair for the car glovebox, motorbike etc etc. I do have better and pricier optics (Pentax ones as well)... but mostly use the paps....

Fwiw.... I didn't rush in the get the DA 1.4TC..... but it finally got to the top of the list of "things I don't really need but somehow want". I can confirm that it pays not to overthink this type of purchase...... I did (as part of my due diligence) determine beforehand that world hunger was likely to be eradicated before Pentax released a FF TC.
I have since also discovered that the likely hood of needing the 1.4tc at any given time is inversly proportional to having it with you. Spookily... my memory is much the same nowdays.
Also.... I'm just as likely to use the 1.4 with say a K1 even though I have k3III.... life is to short to not mix things up a bit....

I would not have bought it.
Turns out.... that a K1 (or 2) and a Kp is all I will most likely need for the next 10 years or so.

Yeah.... the machine may have some different cycle options.... when I went from one machine a few years ago to the one I'm using now I had to change the selection.... it's quite common in bread making to do an initial mix... then rest (flour hydrates and gluten developememt gets a head start...... sort of an autolyse)... then a knead cycle etc.... good to know you are getting there.

Mmm.... bad luck! I was expecting to read that the plastic paddle melted.... no temp issues with mine during the knead cycle.... this is the second one for me....

I have a KP and a K3iii...... and..... it is worth considering keeping the KP if you can swing it.
I use the KP for travel and "light" shooting and the K3iii for more "focussed" shooting.

I have a KP, K3III and 2 K1's.... all I can say is I like to have available 2 cameras but.... now days... it really doesn't matter what one I grab for most shots.... sad but true.
I favour the KP for the motor bike.... and two slot cameras for other peoples event type shots.... but... now I just enjoy any pentax camera and a lens or two and some tranquility. I think I'm finally arrived at being old.
Anyway... my old man advice is one camera and one motor bike.... and go from there.

Generally, I think this is where my frustration comes from. Every few years I'd see the same households calling emergency services to attend to the same type of issue (say... minor flooding).... maybe half a days work digging a drain would have solved their problem... when pointed out they would just say.... nah mate.... easier to just call you guys..... normally whilst holding a drink and having a smoke before getting back to their race guide.
Anyway.... I have become more "anti stupid/lazy people" in my old age.

The same for those where it is just a choice (as opposed to a genuine health reason). ---------- Post added 22-12-21 at 01:57 PM ----------
Each set of circumstances to be considered on it's merits (off course) Effectively we now are deciding to lower treatment standards for all other medical issues..... I consider this a concious decision to let tomorrows heart attacks, stroke, accident victims etc have a lower standard of care..... because other have been selfish..... simple. This was not so at the start.... but is pretty clear now.

Fwiw.... I'm quite happy for people to not get vacinated.... as long as they are not permitted access to the hospital system if/when they get covid.... simple... no exceptions.... did I say no exceptions.

It's been pretty obvious for the last week or so how Omicron is going to go through Australia over the next month or two..... so my wife and I are getting our booster this week.... 5 months after our 2nd shot.... I'm not overly enthused about it.... but what can one do.
Still trying to get some relatives across the idea that going out for new years eve isn't something we want to do.

Managed to add a saddle bag to my new bike to carry my KP, 21, 43, 10-17 and a 300 with a 1.4TC on all rides
The seat is now brown leather.... recovered it.... not a white balance thing.
