Yes, Lord Duncan mixes up few things, the MX was indeed the top of the line DURING the production of the 5 K models, KM and K1000 were produced in parallel from 1976 to 1977 when Pentax discontinued KM and KX, while K2 and K2DMD remained in production for longer.

Again, offering the KM and K1000 at the same time was the Pentax product strategy they had in the early 70s with the Spotmatic II and F and the SP500 and SP1000. The two "traditional" K bodies were discontinued as the MX became the KX replacement and people started to be more interested in smaller cameras therefore they didn't need to offer the KM and K1000 at the same time.

The K2s remained in production for longer because their natural successor was the LX IMO, the K2DMD exposure system has the same "as long as it takes" functions of of the LX.

Another picture of the 5Ks....I see why the K1000 has remained in production for so long, the building quality is IMO in the same ballpark of professional Nikons and Canons of the same era, while M bodies feel a little...ehm...weak.

I think the first attempt to make a pro camera was the K2DMD, it definitely feels more "pro" than the MX. Price was "pro" too, I think above $500 in the late 70s. IMO it's a worthy competitor of the F2 and the F-1n of the era, minus additional viewfinders but as heavy duty as those cameras.

Returned home I decided to load Godzilla, aka my Canon F-1n, and go out for a street shot. With 1.5 kg with the FD55mm f1.2 after 4 km my back is hurting.

It's the Call of the 2DMD...do it!

I like to shoot with narrow DOF and isolate subjects, that is the reason why I like fast lenses, but yes for street a LX with M50mm f1.4 or a Praktica B with Pancolar 1.4 is better for my back.

Missing people...I found this picture slightly disturbing.

Canon T80, I think I used the 80-200 zoom, Superia 200.

No idea, perhaps the scan?

I took other pics as there were fireworks and still the issue is visible.

Few pics that I have taken at Goodwood in 2018 and I could just develop this week. I think I used my trusty LX with the A 35-210 zoom, film is Portra 160.

There was a celebration for the 60 years of Porsche.

You guys were right, I developed the last roll of that event (Goodwood 2018) with another lab and there were no issues...these were taken with the Nikon F2A as I didn't have a 300mm lens in K mount.

This in another pic of the Goodwood series, the car is a Porsche 550 Spyder, mostly famous for being the car in which James Dean killed himself...the first one I have seen in my life that is not silver or white. You can see more pics here:

=planes, trains, boats and automobiles= - Page 200 - PentaxForums.com

The kid, I don't know, he was just a kid with a Canon cropped sensor camera that took a pic of me because of my analogic beast I assume.

Definitely a CZJ product, according to this website this is the last (3rd) variant of this lens:

Carl Zeiss Jena

13cm total length for a 288mm effective focal length not using any flouride or radioactive glass was quite an achievement...this lens serial number is 5411, I think of the last produced...I think 1380 east marks were quite a lot of money in the 80s.

Looking forward to test it, I don't have any Praktica body with me but I am going home at the end of the week.

Yes CZJ, I already have the Flektogon 20mm f2.8, the 35mm f2.4, the Pancolar 50mm f1.8 as well as the 1.4 (both variants, including the radioactive one). I also have the real DDR 80-200 zoom vario-Sonnar, the best zoom that I have ever tested. Also bought in NOS conditions as according to that German website it costed like 2500 marks or anything as ridicoulus as this.

This is my BC3 with the radioactive Pancolar 50mm f1.4, the best 1.4 I have ever tried (the second one is the SMC Tak):
