This picture was taken on a cold and wet weather. I watched other passengers cover their cameras while it was raining. The K-S2's weathersealing does not disappoint.

They tested it on a K-70. I'm replacing my DA-L 55-300 with this one. Faster silent AF, WR, and RE. Can't resist anymore.

the mefoto roadtrip carbon fiber tripod should also fit your criteria. $300 and 3.1 lbs. it has an arca swiss ballhead and will fit your peak design plate easily.

I love my 67 with the 105mm, but the mz-L with a 40mm xs makes film photography so accessible. its the camera combo i bring most of the time.

samsung's 28mp aps-c sized bsi sensor of the nx-1 would be great for the next k3.

k-01 & k-s1 replacement I think. da limited owners would have a very hard time resisting this camera. They should have named this pentax k limited.

Metz af 44 f1 for Pentax kS2

I have a metz 44 AF-1, and it works just fine with the k-s2 except for the flash focus assist. The K-s2 doesnt support wireless pttl using its built-in flash so the slave (SL) button on the metz 44 AF-1 doesnt work with built-in flash as well.

How about an option to select a lower resolution raw file for the k-1, 18-24mp is plenty enough for casual shots.

Just be aware that the K-s2 hasnt completely solved the aperture block problem. Flagship models are more durable i think.
When I upgraded from k-30 to k-s2 the significant improvements I noticed were: 1. More reliable autofocus, my ks2 beats my k30 in low light focusing. 2. Tilting screen is just so useful, I can never live without it anymore 3. Wi fi feature lets me share the best quality picture (small jpeg beats any iphone when indoors) while the moment still matters. And this kinda justifies the expensive purchases.
The extra resolution (higher mp and no aa filter) is noticeable if you crop a lot or pixel peep, I dont really notice it that much, maybe because the largest print i make is only a4 size and most of my shots i only publish in the web.
The wireless pttl master fx i occassionally miss from the k30. But k-s2 lets you choose the output of the onboard flash manually, i find this more useful.
The ability to use an adapter for AA batteries is lost in k-s2. I thought i'd miss it, but so far never did.. The pentax batteries are so much lighter anyway, just be sure to carry a spare. ( ks2 and k30 same battery).
If you print big (pixel shift, 14-bit) or into video as well (phase detect on sensor), or just want a more conventional looking camera (silver/black vs black/orange) you have to look at the k-70.

If you can stretch your budget, why not wait for the k-70. It combines the 24mpix 14-bit raws and Pixel-shift technology of the k3-ii with the wifi, tiltscreen, and on board flash of the k-s2. Its the first pentax camera with hybrid AF (on-sensor phase and contrast detect AF) which may be useful if you frequently shoot video or in live view. Comes in cool silver/black finish too. Its $900 with the very useful 18-135mm kit lens.

i use a hood and a filter and leave the lens cap at home. The filter allows me to wipe the lens with a lens cloth, towel, my shirt, etc without worrying about the lens element. I remove it occassionally but that doesnt happen very often.
